Well shoot, really wanted Medicine Hat to win. The Memorial Cup is such a crapshoot though, you could play this thing again in 2 weeks with the same teams and have a Rimouski/Moncton final. I agree this is a great London team. Still a helluva year for the Tigers, I think this is the best team the Dub has produced in quite awhile.

This thread is likely going to be busier than usual during this summer as it will be interesting to see how many guys transfer to various NCAA teams. As mentioned above, the Royals have already lost their two best players in Reschny and Verhoeff which is a real kick in the junk as they were looking to contend for the WHL Championship next season with both of those guys on the team.

Im probably in the minority ... a lot of people are saying all these lower leagues are going to end up being watered down now that everyone in the chl is ncaa eligible and there is this mass exodus. There is a path for my son to play junior b next season lol

First off, that's a nice opportunity for your son if it does indeed come to fruition. It will be interesting to see how this all pans out, but it certainly looks like 17 and just barely 18 year old kids will be key components of major junior hockey teams throughout the three major junior hockey leagues.

it seems more plausible now than ever lol.

The team that won the tournament my son played in this weekend were all A1's (plus 1 whl player) from Burnaby who were 2007's. Grade 12's who just aged out and played their last season of association hockey. (My sons team were the grade 11's).

5 of those 2007's tried out and made main camp for junior b teams around the lower mainland for next season. and these 5 are undersized skill kids who can skate ... definitely a change in the junior leagues because of the changes with the ncaa

i think the biggest worry is teams/ lower leagues folding and closing up shop

Yeah, that's a definite concern, but also I was reading stuff on twitter from Royals fans saying why should we buy tickets to watch next year's team with two of out best players gone? CHL GM's will be working their asses off this summer lol

The article in the Cam Robinson tweet below suggests that a McKenna decision on where he will play next year will likely come in July. Also, the finances are not chump change as Cam says McKenna could make up to 500K.

Plenty of speculation that Everett might lose Flames prospect Eric Jamieson as well as young phenom Landon Dupont. Alarm bells are certainly sounding in league offices.
