Dustin Fowler might be the best pickup of the offseason.

Optioned Cole Tucker. Killed any chance of him having past trade value.

Damn. Looks like he might be a bit of a stud.

Put a ring on it PITT...
Yeah he will be a good one but I don't blame him. Why commit long-term to a team that doesn't even try. Sadly like all the others he will be gone coming close to his FA years.

I think he is under contract thru 2126. That is what I read in article I thought.

Priceless !! Why do they even bother nowadays??

Seriously if I was a fan in attendance I would have been like:
im out GIF

They are a joke and this just sealed the deal.

I really just wonder how long they can hang on, One of the storied MLB franchise (minus the last 20-25 years). Can they survive in PIT/metro area & will area continue to support them? Would they ever move? Charlotte, Nashville, or elsewhere?

Honestly I don't know. Years past the local base would fight hard to keep them to stay but it has been WAY too long to continue to support this franchise.
Scary to think the last time they won a playoff series was '79!

Yes, it s sad. I've been fan since early 70's. I guess the big question I would have is can a franchise with minimal game average fan attendance 15-20K be enough? Does the TV and any revenue sharing help supplement low attendance so owner can keep field crappy team year in and year out and still make a bit of money?

Honestly that has to be it with the TV deals and Nutting continues to make enough revenue to stay content.
What is lost in all of this is the fact that Nutting is the 10th richest owner in all of MLB. So he truly has no excuse around having less money vs other ownership groups.

Cherington isn’t as optimistic about the prognosis for Triple-A outfielder Travis Swaggerty, the team’s No. 1 pick in 2018 and their No. 9 prospect on MLB Pipeline.

Swaggerty, who dislocated his right shoulder, saw team doctors last week and discussed both surgical and non-surgical options. Cherington said no decision has been made but Swaggerty appears to be leaning toward undergoing surgery to repair his shoulder.

“It hasn’t happened yet,” Cherington said. “It’s going in that direction, though.”

When it rains it pours. If he has surgery his season is over and yet another prospect lost.

You know your team is bad when you had to keep him around this long.

Just what the Pirates need, yet another 30+ year old catcher in the system. :L

I really don't get it, that the ownership doesn't get it? Unless maybe they are trying to put crappy team on field to drive down support, to better support possibility of moving??? That I my get.

Curious to see how they blow this one.

On another note Shane Baz was just promoted to AAA after tearing up AA with 49 k's in 32 innings.
And so far in AAA he looks just as dominate.
:L
