I may have posted this already but I think we'll look back on Jokic's MVP as kind of 'soft' the way we look at Nash's. He gets a cheap one due to injuries to better players.

I completely agree. This whole season is kinda messed up. Superstars have been dropping like flies so this years MVP might just basically be "the best player left standing"

Harden was top 3 before his injuries. Not my opinion but that was what ESPN and other sports outlets were reporting.
Harden is off the board from now on, you can’t do what he did and get enough votes. It’s not happening.

It's less messed up than last season at least. And I'm loving the 72 game season, although I doubt they stick with it

This year yes. Never know in the future, but I doubt he wins another

Nah.

16, 4 and 8 just aren’t MVP numbers in the current era with offense exploding everywhere.

That just doesn’t cut it.

Donovan Mitchell has a much stronger case than CP3. And I don’t think he should be a serious contender either.
It's not just about stats.

It's about him making the bad Suns a lot better. So Booker isn't miscast as a PG. CP is the main difference between last year's team and this season's team.

Thunder moving up the ladder on picks, I doubt they win another game. Tonight will make 15 losses in a row.

I agree with this, he and his “untradeable” contract have put Phoenix where they are.

Stats play a big part of it. If they didn't Alex Caruso would be in it

I don’t disagree.

But he also has the total resume to back it up. His stats are out of this world and he has led his team on deep playoff runs in a brutally tough conference.

Even with everyone playing every game I think Jokic and Embiid should be about the same.

Of course.

But, you are also factoring in Phoenix’s past poor roster construction into this equation. Put a league average PG in that spot and they probably have 35 wins right now.

3 years ago everyone was touting Phoenix as an up and coming team. They underperformed for years because they were missing that 1 key piece.

I am not diminishing what CP3 has meant to the Suns, but saying he should be in the MVP conversation just because the team has outperformed expectations is too much.

Gonna have to agree to disagree. I think I value leadership more than you do. Which kind of illustrates the folly of MVP awards. Different folks have different definitions of value and what the more important aspects of it are.

MVP should be about leadership but often that isn't the case. If it was neither Harden or Westbrook would have had one and Kobe should have had at least 3 or 4

The problem is that giving the award to a player like CP3 implies that Jokic isn’t a leader.

I have seen evidence that he is an excellent leader.

he said he was upset with refs. Not teammate. still no excuse for it.

PTI covered that topic today. They said Love was frustrated with refs. Love thought he was getting fouled and was pushed in the back with nothing called. He apologized to his teammates. But still, bad look for him. Can't be doing stuff like that.
