Where would the Nuggets be without Jokic though? The reason he's going to win it is because the other candidates missed a lot of games.

Without any injuries the MVP race would probably be between Embiid, Lebron and Harden
Not Harden, no. Yes it would be LeBron, Embiid, and Jokic would still be in the mix

And missed the playoffs.

Irrelevant. Somewhere between March 11 and July 30th of last year the Suns seemed to have gotten their shit together. That was before CP3

Not saying Paul doesn't deserve credit for the great season the Suns are having but it's too far to have him come close to MVP considerations. He's the perfect piece the team needed the lift them over the edge.

Harden was top 3 before his injuries. Not my opinion but that was what ESPN and other sports outlets were reporting.
No way they give him another over say Embiid after dogging his way out not Houston. Zero chance.

I'm not saying he would have won it, but his numbers on the Nets before injuries were impressive.
Indeed. As are Curry's but he has no chance either for a different reason.

Correct, but rarely does the award go to a teams #2

Can't remember off the top of my head who did

Yeah, I'd have to look at a list of MVP's. The one that comes to mind for me is Steve Nash. He was definitely the Suns most valuable player, but I think a case could be made for him not being their best player.

You take Jokic off that team and they'd still be a playoff team.

Phoenix? Not so much. They needed a PG, got 1 and the results have shown how valuable he is to their team.

No they wouldn’t. Denver would be pretty bad without Jokic IMO.

Phoenix?

Maybe. They went undefeated in the bubble last year without CP3.

He is a great leader and a perfect fit for what they needed. But people mentioning him in the MVP conversation are greatly overstating his real impact as a player.

Lol, wait what?

a surprise? I’m not!

a coach that holds his players accountable, gets them to buy in , no one should be surprised.

Remember your Swami said the knick roster was a challenged roster that no coach could make difference..

well, as Judge Smails said ... ‘ I m. Waiting!!!

And then Julius Randle turned himself into a legit star which made the roster a lot less challenged.

Meh, the bubble is interesting. No one knows what to take from the bubble. You hear it was easier for the younger players, but not the older ones. But an older team won the title. Some folks blame it for the Clippers flameout, then say it helped the Nuggets.

The only bubble theory I buy is that it was better for shooters because the backdrop was better.

To say that folks mentioning CP3 is "greatly overstating" is a bit of an overstatement.

Both are benefitting from the injuries. Without them, Joker isn't a favorite to win it and CP3 is barely in the discussion. Maybe not at all, because the Suns may not be sitting as high as they are now. The Nuggets either for that matter.

Nah.

16, 4 and 8 just aren’t MVP numbers in the current era with offense exploding everywhere.

That just doesn’t cut it.

Donovan Mitchell has a much stronger case than CP3. And I don’t think he should be a serious contender either.

I may have posted this already but I think we'll look back on Jokic's MVP as kind of 'soft' the way we look at Nash's. He gets a cheap one due to injuries to better players.
