It's an interesting idea. Unfortunately, what would be the best way to do it, imo, would likely be impossible.

For example, it would be cool to see a couple of games played at Rucker. Some NBA legends have played there. Just don't see how it would be possible. There are some courts on the beach out here that NBA players used to frequent as well.
Oh make no mistake about it, the only reason they would do it would be to play it in front of a ton of fans. Like at a stadium I would think.

You say so what but what about the players who wont take end of quarter long shots because it hurts their shooting percentage? wouldn't shock me if a number of them were not fans of shooting in windy conditions.
And this matters to me why?

They'll set up a court in a stadium somewhere and the wind won't be that big a factor. It's just a regular season game or two, I like it.

This might be a bit of a stretch, there is only one Ben Simmons in the league.

Hockey might need a gimmick more than the NBA? I mean, I guess not terrible if venue big enough like the hockey games....but thinking wind could be a much bigger factor in an NBA game than hockey, too.

I was just about to say, the only thing worth exploration on this would be Rucker park or something like that.

Yeah, that is how they'd have to do it. I wouldn't really care about seeing that.

Again, so what? It's a fun idea and just a regular season game. This is just sports, I think the players would love to have a little wind for one game each year.

No way.

Some might not mind it.

But I have never met a shooter who likes playing in the wind. Not fun.

You're missing my point. I bet the players would enjoy the novelty just like we would

I am sure some would.

Personally, if it were me I would absolutely hate it.

And I am sure that there would be more than a few who would feel the way I do about playing outside.

Y'all are a bunch of grumps

lol

I'm not a fan of "gimmick" games unless there's something to make them special.

I can see why, for example, MLB having a game at the Field of Dreams field was a cool thing. Or hockey having some outdoor games because that's basically where many hockey players have historically learned and fallen in love with the game. I could be wrong, I don't really follow hockey, but I think that in the early days of the NHL, the games were played outside.

The baseball games and hockey matches, while in very different venues than players are used to, the playing surface and equipment were the same.

That's a big part of why, while I think it's an interesting idea, I can't see it working for the NBA. For it to be anything more than a gimmick, they would need play at a place like Rucker. The problem (besides being able to set it up for fans) would be the surface and equipment. While a lot of NBA players learned and fell in love with the game playing outdoors on blacktop with chain nets, you can't really ask them to play on that surface now.

If you can't do that, then you're just setting up a basketball court in a stadium. Nothing all that special about that, imo.
