I read that for DeRozan to go to the Lakers...his salary would have to drop from $20 million to a little over $2 million.

I know he wants a title...but daaaaaaaamn that would be a huge cut.

Highly unlikely.

But David West made a similar decision a few years back. And DeRozan has made some good bank.

I would say 10% chance he goes ring chasing for pennies.

Even in the extremely unlikely event that he would do it...it makes no sense from the Lakers side. Getting Westbrook OR DeRozan made sense. Getting Westbrook AND DeRozan doesn't.

You can take the mle as well. Idk.
I’m just curious how so many guys will take massive cuts to ride the bench.

Yeah, its great that the Lakers appear to have a lot choices. But they can't sign them all and will have to make some choices re: how much they're offering and to whom. It looks like with only an exception or 2, we're talking about a lot vet mins. Some of those guys are going to be expecting to be the ones offered more than a vet min.

Yeah saw that but kinda like Derozan…why would he take the minimum. Even if he went for a MLE. I guess injuries have killed him recently

I’m torn on this one. Harris isn’t the problem. He had a great year last year and he chipped away at his poor rep for playoff basketball ….minus the 6 quarters where he disappeared in Game 4 and 5 of the Hawks series. He’s not a 2nd option. He’s one of the better third options in the league. But it’s a bad contract for sure. It really depends on what comes back. Additionally, a trade of Harris doesn’t fix the issue with Simmons not fitting. Moving those two guys (Simmons and Harris) would dramatically alter the complexion of the team. My hope would be that’s a positive but also some risk that it gets worse. Gonna be an interesting follow for sure and at the end of the day “to live in interesting times” and to have a fun follow in your teams is all you can ever really demand as a sports fan.

I could see him taking a one year show me kind of deal and then bolting next summer when more teams have cap available.

It would probably be on a “bet on yourself” type of deal where he gets to prove he’s still relevant.

Thats of course IF it even comes so far.
