if LeBron stays- between him, Davis and THT you will have slightly less than 30 million in cap room. Not enough to sign a star- but a pretty solid player.

Question...Wouldn't some of that be determined by when the Lakers re-sign him. Meaning, couldn't they sign another star and then go over the cap to re-sign Lebron using their Bird rights?

I think the concept of the cap hold is what keeps teams from doing this. If you want to retain those Bird Rights a certain percentage of the current dollar amount counts against the cap to keep the player's Bird rights. A team can quit claim on those Bird Rights and lose the cap hold.

no- because players with Bird Rights have cap holds. Sometimes cap holds are less than for what a guy will eventually sign for- but that is not the case for LeBron.

it might be the case for someone like GArland who is going from rookie scale to likely max- his cap hold might only be 20-25 million while his contract is 30m a year- but for LeBron his cap hold will be at least what he made this year.

That makes sense. Forgot about the cap hold. When the Lakers hire me to be GM, I might have to hire you 2 to be my capologists. lol

The nets super conservative to KD may lead to them needing to win 2 games to get in the real thing. I would not want to go to Atlanta or Toronto in a win or go home situation
I think they still have time. They are only 3.5 back of the 6 seed. I also don't think they care about seeding. I think they just want a healthy squad with all their pieces ready.

I would imagine they don't care as long as they are Seeds 1-6. I would imagine they will focus on not being 7-10.

Truth be told, I don't think that team is necessarily good enough to not care about home court advantage but I doubt there is much they can do to change their seeding that much.

Right, Kobe missed fewer 3s because he took FAR fewer 3s not because he was good at hitting them.

Kobe took "FAR fewer" 3's (4.1) than LeBron (4.5) per game? Interesting.

They should. I would not to play a win or go home in Toronto since Kyrie isn't allowed to play in Canada

Yeah the cocky approach where you think you can just turn on a light switch and be dominant usually doesn't end well

Especially given how little they have played together.
