They have really bought into the defensive aspects of the game. Sean Sweeney deserves a ton of credit. I don’t know what he’s selling but the players are clearly buying it. Luka’s D is night and day improved from last season and he’s not alone. THAT’S the key to this thing that I see every game as a MFFL. Moving KP doesn’t help that but watching them without KP the last week, they will be fine.

Also… Reggie Bullock seems to have found his role here. And he’s found his range on those corner 3’s. He’s starting to become a problem for opponents.
Yeah I really wish the Knicks could’ve found a way to keep Bullock.
He’s been sorely missed.

WTH? What GM of an NBA franchise is consulting with two players like James and AD to make potential trades?? The Answer. Gutless, backboneless Rob Pelinka. WTF is this douche doing?? Also, if Westbrook so wants to win, as Pelinka claims, is Westbrook in the gym before games and after, like Kobe would be, working with a coach on simple mechanics that is causing him to so badly miss dunks, lay-ups, open shots, open bank shots, two-foot shots, threes, etc.?? The answer is NOOOO!! Is he working on his defense by watching film and working on footwork and studying more tape?? HELLLLL NOOOOO!!

This is what is wrong with the Lakers!!

It's kind of standard practice to consult with the stars of the team when you're looking into making big moves with the roster. Yesterday (or maybe the day before) Steph was doing an interview and he said that he didn't think the team would be making any big moves because typically Bob Myers would consult with the core (Steph, Klay, Draymond) if anything was potentially happening.

So most well run organizations want to involve their stars in the process. They may not always agree with them or just cater to them, but involving the stars in the process is not out of the question.

Every GM in the league if they are smart.

The Lakers didn't make any deals because there were none to make that made sense and/or improved their chances of winning a title. You don't make a trade just to make a trade. Any trades available would basically be rearranging the furniture. I'm just happy that Pelinka said no when Houston wanted to trade Wall for Westbrook and a 1st rounder.

The best thing for them now is to see what they can do via the buyout market.

Barring a miracle trade in the off-season or before next years deadline, the best thing going forward may be to just bite the bullet with Westbrook, hope Lebron, AD and Russ can figure something out and then look to rebuild around AD after next season when Lebron and Westbrooks deals expire. That will give them $91 million, plus a few smaller expiring contracts (so likely close to $100 million) to rebuild around AD.

So, at the very least, not doing anything preserves that cap space for 2023.

I actually think the Bucks got worse. Their bench is pretty weak but if Lopez is back for the playoff and Portis gets big minutes off the bench then that does strengthen it. They only have one guy off the bench that can handle the ball. Now with the Connaughton injury, they lost Donte, Hood and Pat. Lopez still out. They only have Hill. The Ibaka trade doesn't make a whole lot of sense now especially since they picked up Monroe. They needed a guard but traded him away. Luckily they have Allen to replace Pat but I wouldn't say he replaces him.
