I mean expectations change for sure but they still were projected to win 25 wins, they lost Rubio (now traded) and Sexton. Plus injuries throughout the season to Garland and Lauri but still a game out BUT the East is loaded. It’s all going to depend on matchups and that goes for any team. The Cavs could realistically end up playing a healthy Nets squad with Kyrie 4/7 games. That isn’t a good matchup.

If I was a Cavs fan, I would just be happy with winning 2 games in round 1....Worry about the other stuff next year

Who goes the farthest in the playoffs, Memphis or the Cavs?

Depending on the health of a few teams out West....

I'd probably take Cleveland.

I'm not even talking about the LA teams.

Healthy Dallas and Denver could give the Grizz Hell in a 1st round matchup.

I'm going Memphis.

Unless Cleveland get a top 2 seed, who exactly are they beating 4 of 7 assuming teams are healthy?

I guess Charlotte, Boston, and possibly the Hawks. I wouldn't take them against anyone else

Tough one. Idk all about matchups. A lot can change but Memphis probably plays Denver/Dallas?
The East is so crazy anything can happen. They could get a 1 or 2 seed and have to play a healthy Nets squad or a dangerous Toronto or Boston team. It seems not one series will be easy in the East
I see you both being in a similar position.

They have slightly better young talent.

You have much better veteran leadership.

Nobody poo poo's the year Memphis is having.

In fairness, I think most of the shade is about the Cavs fandom on this site, not really about the team itself.

I honestly don't have either getting out of the 1st round.

But, I can see the Cavs having a better chance to make it to the 2nd round in the East.

The Grizz would beat the Clippers and the Wolves.

Not sure about the Lakers and I would take Nuggets and the Mavs over them if they are healthy.

They are a nice story. But they aren't built for playoff basketball.
totally.

young teams never win in the playoffs. Itll be interesting to see how it goes--- but at the very least itll be very good experience for the guys.....

ya never know too- get a good matchup, injuries, etc....and they could possibly win a series. Lot of teams in the East with good depth, that are healthier, and have veterans that have been there before leading the team.

Its fun though.

the more I read about this deal (TheAthletic has like 4 articles up) there is some concern about LeVert in how he tends to dominate the ball at times. I hope he fits well into the system and does not ball hog. That is a legit worry about him.

all in all- a very solid deal to help keep a very fun season going. Garland was shouldering way too much responsibility with the ball in his hands- and his back soreness was showing that. He is def. their most important player right now and he needed some help with Sexton and Rubio out for the season.

PErsonally- if i could pick LeVert or Rubio and Sexton- i pick Rubio and Sexton all day long- but giving up a first that should be at the highest- pick 18- or so-in what is predicted as an underwhelming draft- and likely later- to help them this season was worth it if you ask me.

Lets hope Garland and LeVert stay healthy and have some fun the rest of the way.

4 games still against the Sixers btw

oh for sure.

the team was predicted for like 27 wins. Getting some playoff experience will be huge for these guys.

and if they get hot, and get a matchup, and are healthy- maybe they have a chance to upsest here or there. We shall see.

KEep in mind KLove is only playing 22 minutes a night still.....hard to get the type of stats you need playing 22 minutes a night to win 6th man award

in the 3 games this month- with some extended minutes because of the injuries he is at 23 and 11.....if he was getting 30 minutes a night his candidacy would be a lot stronger---- but I am glad they are not over-using him and keeping him healthy.

@Mecca

have you been watching Euphoria?

maybe the most fucked up show I have ever seen- gonna go watch the latest episode in bed now. Its not a particularly good show- but entertaining with just how effed up it is.

and Sydney Sweeney gets naked a lot. So there is that!

Pelicans are 20-20 since starting the year 1-12.

I know the NBA is praying for a Pelicans/Lakers play-in game assuming Zion eventually play basketball this season

Same applies to Cleveland as they eye potential first round match-up with teams like Milwaukee, Philly or Brooklyn.

Whatever happens this year, the expectation for both teams should be centered around gaining a little playoff experience, nothing more.

eehhh....hes close

is Herro really a "sixth man"? he leads the freaking team in minutes played. At some point common sense should rule there.

If he comes off the bench, he is a 6th man.

The fact that he leads the team in minutes only bolsters his case. Like when the Clippers used Lou Williams (arguably their best player) as 6th man a couple years ago.

Don’t try to complicate things with contrived definitions.

well obviously

but between the Knicks and Cavs specifically.

Well, obviously Cleveland is a lot better today.

But if you aren’t betting on this core to win a championship, then guess where the pendulum swings again?

Won’t be within 10 years, but The Knicks won’t always be run by Jim Dolan.

People running the organizations aren’t permanent. Obviously Cleveland has much better people running their organization today. Just have to be pretty close to perfect to build a contender in a city like Cleveland. So far they have been. Still need a lot of things to go their way to get to the top though. More plausible ways to get there in a city like NY.

And if I am betting on the field in the next 10 years, not sure why I would bet on Cleveland over NY in the next 50 years.

My god stop being a homer for one second. All of a sudden minutes played should come into play when deciding 6th man. Really dumb comment

Just trying to discredit a heat player as always. Nothing to see here. You think he would have said this if love led the cavs in minutes per game?

That would be his #1 argument in favor of Love winning

Also for what it is worth, he is 4th in the team in MPG. Bam, Jimmy, and Lowry all play more mpg
People said the same about Manu, played starter minutes during his prime but came off the bench. If you don't start, you're eligible. It's not the perfect definition of an award, but it is what it it is.
