You are correct.
Right now they're only 1 game out of the play in game...and 4.5 back of the 8 seed.
Not too shabby considering where they were about a month ago.
I hate to wish bad luck on them but that is what it will take for this team to truly tank.

I wouldn’t trade Okoro but wonder what Reddish’s value is at this point. I mean if Atlanta keeps tumbling they might want another 1st. They aren’t paying Reddish long-term, they already have too many 2’s and 3’s. Maybe they could give up Windler, a player and a 1st…just maybe. Just depends but like you said, Reddish is just a rental unless he plays better than Okoro. You essentially get depth short-term and have two options. Worst case they lose a mid round 1st…unless the wheels fall off
I just hope the guys are back for next Thursday's/Friday's back to back against the Wiz and Hawks. They need Allen and Mobley back badly. Okoro is their best perimeter defender too.

Cavs strength has been defense and those 3 guys are what make it go more than anything else.

Giddey was a really nice piece to get though.

One more hit on a high pick and I think they start trying to win again.
Some thought the Thunder reached for him but a redraft might be interesting. I’m not so sure he would be there at 6.

the Thunder future 1st round draft picks:

2022:
1.Their own,
2. the Clippers 1st rounder unprotected(from George trade),
3. the Suns 1st rounder, (top 14 protected- def will transfer)
4. and Pistons first rounder (top 16 protected- not gonna transfer that year--- Pistons pick is top 13 protected until 2025, lol, 1-9 protected in 2026 and 2027).

2023
1. their own
2. Denver (top 14 protected until 2025- then turns into 2 2nd rounders)
3. Miami Heat first round pick- top 14 protected until 2025---totally unprotested in 2026
4. Wizards first rounder- top 14 protected in 2023, top 12 protected 2024, top 10 protected 2025, top 8 protected 2026
5. Pick swap rights with Clippers

2024
1. Their own
2. Rockets- top 4 protected- if not conveyed turns into 2 2nd rounders
3. Clippers- UNPROTECTED
4. Utah- top 10 protected, 2025 top 10 protected, 2026 top 8 protected

2025.
1. Their own
2. Houston- top 10 protected- or they can take LAC's first round pick
3. Philly- top 6 protected in 2025, top 4 protected in 2026, top 4 protected 2027-- if not conveyed by 2027 turns into 2nd rounder

2026
1. Their own
2. Rockets- top 4 protected- if not conveyed turns into 2nd rounder
3. Clippers- UNPROTECTED

LOL...wow.......those Clippers picks that are unprotected could be big. That miami unprotected pick could be big. Some of those lightly protected rockets picks could be big. The treasure trove of picks is madness.

in this draft who was he going over?

guys that went over him were Cunningham, Green, Mobley, Suggs and Barnes. I think all of them were solidly higher regarded. But- having said that- in a normal draft he doesnt make it near 6. He is prob top 3.

If they aren't "tanking" by late February or early March....then that means they probably aren't going that route.
But who the hell knows for sure anyway?
That said ..it's always best to play to win regardless..especially for the young players overall experience.

Clippers are playing with fire trading so many future totally unprotected picks- esp. for a franchise that doesnt exactly have a sterling (no pun intended) record of having sustained success.

Meh..with their owner, they'll pretty much always be a bought team anyway.

Which is why I don't get rooting to tank. If they suck they suck, but why not try to win games? The lottery is still a crapshoot whether you're 3rd or 6th or whatever.

The 2009 Draft was generally regarded as a 6 player draft. The difference between 6th and 7th was Steph Curry or Jordan Hill

this year the difference between 4 and 5 was Scottie Barnes or Jalen Suggs.

you just dont know when that extra slot or two will make your franchise. IF the difference is 25 wins or 32 wins- I dont see the downside.

this year the difference between 3rd and 6th was Mobley or Giddy. Giddy looks like he can be good. Mobley looks like he can be a possible future MVP candidate.

some years though- when the draft is weak- its not as big a deal.

Agreed. Actually the Thunder are only 1 gane ahead of Houston for the 3rd worse record. The bottom 3 all have about the same shot in the lottery. I expect the Suns will get them headed back down the losing path tonight.

Yep. You don't have to go the way of Detroit and intentionally create shit lineups to lose games

Bad losses for the Nuggs & Hawks.
Good win for the Celts.

I don't think it was that good of a W for the Celtics. The Cavs were without starters C. Sexton (out rest of reg. season), Okoro (Sexton's replacement), Allen & Mobley. And whoever else they were missing.

I know the C's were missing Horford and some others. But their player losses for last night's game weren't as bad as the Cavs.

Stats doesn't tell the whole story. Caruso is a smarter player than THT
Sure, but THT isn't replacing him by himself (Reaves).

I'm not a fan of the decisions either, but they aren't the reason for the current state of the Lakers IMO. Adjustments take time, and health is a big factor.
