Doesn't seem likely. The Thunder would really have to want a 1 year "farewell tour". I know he was a fan favorite there, but Thunder fans haven't seemed real eager for him to come back...plus, I believe they have some youngsters they are looking to develop and I don't think he would help much with that.

It looks like it would help the Lakers, but I'm not sure a couple of picks 5 and 7 years from now moves the needle much for the Thunder beyond maybe using in a future trade.

@thunderc thoughts?

I think they should do it.

Smooths out your picks.

Use your cap space to add picks one last time before you start…actually trying again

I don’t know. It helps OKC get up to the floor and it’s an expiring deal. Not sure what else the Lakers can send back that would be enticing for you taking on the salary though. Seems like their draft assets are already promised elsewhere.
The Thunder have no problem giving more money to the existing roster to get to the floor

The fan base doesn’t want him back, the worst thing Presti could do is tell everyone he did it for more picks.

Well, there are 6 viable trades out there, one of which is the OKC reunion trade. The more likely one or two is the Indiana trade or the Detroit Trade but we shall see. Nothing much is going to occur until a coach is in place and there after the Lakers will in earnest try to move Westbrook.

The Thunder or the Lakers? The Lakers should definitely do it, imo.

The Thunder, I'm not so sure about. They already have a shit ton of picks and Westbrook could set back the development of any young guys they may want to keep because he'll think they should make him their focal point.

Having said that, those 2 future 1sts that the Lakers would send, seem like they could be valuable in a trade that could help OKC land a difference maker right about the time they might be looking to add one.

I guess Vogel and Westbrook are the scapegoats for a very messed up front office. Until that mess is dealt with it’s not going to be pretty.

The thunder

And your last comment in the quoted post is exactly why

Who cares. No one says you have to play Russ.

Mothball him if he won’t get with the program

The Thunder are not going to do this, the appearance of going backward would not be good.

Going backward?

You tried to post a team worse than the 2011 bobcats…and failed

This is just taking on more dead weight

You took on a ton of dead weight last offseason as well

It’s staying the course

How about we do the same kind of thing but with Tobias Harris instead of Russ. It’s an extra contract Year from Russ but it could time up well with the OKC rebuild. And also…I’m desperate to make the Sixers better and maybe Morey has compromising pictures of Presti somewhere ha.

Ok well let’s just see if it happens. I’ll cover bets.

I’m not saying it will

I’m saying it should and makes perfect sense

I get his point on why it might make sense for them to do. Russ was a fan favorite and that was cemented even more when KD left and he stayed when he didn't have to. It gives him the chance to show some appreciation to a fanbase that always supported him and one more chance for the fans to appreciate him...while picking up a couple of draft picks that could be important in a future trade.

But it does seem like the organization and the fans have moved on and aren't particularly interested in a farewell tour...especially with a guy who is likely not going to be on board with it being a farewell tour.

On Dan Patrick, they just referred to AD as Anthony Day to Dayvis.

Y’all should trade him to Boston

I might be willing to put grant Williams in the deal ;)

I’d probably put CP3 above Kyrie. Not sure why Klay would make the list. Dude is coming back this year. Next year is a different story.

Same here. Kyrie has a ring and hit a very clutch shot in game 7 of the Finals.

CP3 on the other hand has lost 4 playoff series during his career after his team has been up 2-0. An all time record.

In many ways, i think you could put CP3 above Harden on this list. It’s close. Dude has his best chance at a ring this year. If it doesn’t come this year, it may be his last chance. For Harden, the pressure he has is in his reputation for coming up small in the playoffs. Harden doesn’t need to win a championship to end that narrative. He just has to play well. His team isn’t positioned to win a title. They need much more work on the complimentary pieces on the roster before they’re a serious contender.
