It's about competitive balance and fans paying for and deserving a better product, and with the influence of sports betting I'm sure it will get further attention. Sucks that it takes gambling to reform your sport, but any port in a storm I guess.

There is a strong difference between rebuilding and sitting your healthy players to lose games intentionally.

It is about competitive balance.

Failing to take the time to endure a full rebuild in a small market guarantees a future of mediocrity. You have to endure being bad for a stretch in order to get good again.

Whether a player is “healthy” or not is not black and white. Any sports fan should understand how this works.

OKC should be the model for how small market NBA teams operate.

Well, he's not going to leave OKC on that island alone, it's his team.
I will tell it like it is. The Thunder went into Denver and won a while back then a few weeks later damn near did it again. The players on the court are playing to win that’s for certain.

This response to the OKC lineup the other night almost made me spit out my coffee, I was laughing so hard.

The fact that they still won (lost in tanking terms) against this lineup makes it even funnier. Adam Silver must be dying.

NOW you have doubts? LOL

I never understood why some of you thought they would flip a magic switch and turn it on in the playoffs. Yes, they will get some guys back, possibly, but this team is a hot mess.

Still wouldn't want to play them.

I expect the same starting lineup in LA tomorrow night, and they may win lol

The race to play the bulls is wicked
Sixers are must win tonight in that regard. They’re trying to navigate a shit sandwich. Nets and Raptors are worst case scenario for them in round 1. Play well enough to get the 2? You catch the Nets. Drop to the bottom of the top 4? You get the Raptors with Thybulle out for 3 road games. The key is a win tonight. That gives them flexibility in the last 2 games to go for the win or go OKC.

It seems like OKC was already relegated and we weren't notified of the G-league team that took their place?

It's Brown and Horford.

Adam Silver is going to die if Toronto makes it to the final because all its opponents can't play their full rosters in Canada during the playoffs

Horford reportedly said he would do something if it came down to the playoffs, so maybe he is vaxxed but not boosted and can fix this in time to play in Canada. If not, obviously a huge issue given that they are already missing Time Lord for at least the first round if not more.

The Sixers match up very well against the Bulls. That is the optimal first round matchup for Philly for sure.

OKC is sitting healthy players.

What are you even talking about?

OKC was in the playoffs for the entire decade of the 10s and they were a legit contender for most of that time.

They made the playoffs and almost won a series in 2020.

And with the haul of assets they have accumulated, they will be back in the playoffs again soon. Maybe as soon as next season depending on what they do this summer.

You choosing OKC to pick on is just weird.

And you're allowed to do that. Tanking like this is only actionable if you're the Philadelphia 76ers.

I'm picking on tankers. If that applies to OKC, so be it. You were hiding OKC behind the "small market" argument, which should have nothing to do with the tanking discussion. Salary isn't the issue at hand; sitting healthy players and starting a G-league lineup to try to lose is.
