I think he needs a three way partner (heh) to get something done with Winnipeg where they get a d-man and he gets Laine.

Nobody really jumps to mind, though. Maybe TB & Sergachev but he’s an RFA and might not extend with the Jets.

Shed whichever of the big contracts you have, get picks and use your cap space. San Jose should have no problem getting FAs to go there.

There in lies the problem. Free agents don’t sign in San Jose. Our biggest free agent acquisition was coming in second on Tavares.

Our best players are all drafted or acquired by trade.

Yeah but that was last year and under the misguided strategy of losing the blue line with “scoring” d-men. That idea failed and died with Tyson Barrie.

If they can’t get Piet my guess is someone outta left field gets traded for.

I got into it a little bit with a fellow Flames fan regarding Calgary going after Taylor Hall - I said if the Flames did land him, he would be the team's latest whipping boy. I was reminded that he's a former Hart trophy winner, I said thanks for the reminder lol, but how has he looked lately?
