John Davidson drafted Pietro and is really familiar with what he brings. And now he drives the bus in NYR. Would not be at all surprised.

Davidson has not had a problem letting guys go to replace them with guys he knows and trusts. Not saying it's a great idea, just that it fits his M.O..
I'd definitely agree with that except for two things:

-Trouba's contract is basically the Pietro contract, is immovable for multiple reasons and it would be insane to pay +/- $18 million to two RD's.

-Fox is young, controllable, very good and basically shit on the rest of the league in order to be a Ranger.

9. Not sure it is even possible, but I think Arizona and Vancouver had an Oliver-Ekman Larsson conversation

at $8.25 million per year forever, the only way that happens if they take Myers AND Ericksson back
they can have Sutter, too.

THe only way that deal would ever happen is if HOF GMJR became the GM for the Coyotes.

1) despite OEL having been not good for going on 4 years now there are still Hockey Men who probably think he’s still a #1 d-man worthy of that salary and cap hit.

2) It would not be surprising if Jim Benning is one of those Hockey Men.

Re: the above, I read somewhere that Ottawa hasn’t drafted a Russian since 2005.

The ghost of Yashin lives.

Yeah, not sure what happened to OEL, I was a big fan about four years ago, but his game has certainly tailed off.

Clue: when did Tippett leave?

Yup, that's certainly a factor. On a somewhat related note, rumors are that the Flames might be willing to move Hanifin in order to land a more established defenseman, It worries me because the Flames GM used to work for the Coyotes.

I think the Flames would do well to cash in on Hanifin - I think he has a better rep in the league than he has earned with his play.

But, yeah, not for OEL lol.

I'm not even that sure about Coffey/Huddy/Lowe - Coffey was more of a rover than a defenseman. And Lowe is not a hall of fame defenseman, he just played on some great teams.

Off to CapFriendly to see how much space the Canucks have

BRB

/edit Back. totally doable. Esp if Vancouver throws in Loui, who they Yotes then buy out. It actually would make sense for AZ.
