If you're not in the playoffs, you have no grounds to complain about missing an ALL-NBA team is my point. Kemba would not be "robbed", he would be beaten out by a worthy player. He and Lebron are the only ones to make an ALL-NBA team this year and miss the playoffs.
I do agree had Klay made it over Kemba I would not think Kemba was robbed. Klay is a justifiable pick....but also a justifiable omission.

I could see being upset losing out on all that cash since he was close to making it, but miffed a guy who was clearly his team's best player and needed to show up for his team to win a game getting in over him?

Yeah, I agree with this. I don't have a problem with Klay being a little upset. I don't care how much money someone has/makes...that's still a lot of money to lose.

Are there 6 guards in the league that are better than Klay?...probably not.

But, were there 6 guards in the NBA that had a better season than Klay?...Yes, there were.

So, let's invest $40M+ annually in a player that can't elevate the play of the team. Sounds like a Michael Jordan type move.
Klay might make that amount. He is not elevating his team....his team is elevating him.

And it would have very little to do with Kemba. Once again, not every team can have 4-5 All Stars and 3 HOF's in their prime on the same team

Who has been Kemba's best teammate in his career? Bum ass Dwight Howard or Nick Batum

They have 4 mid-high lottery picks on the roster with him. They have chosen poorly. They made two big plays for free agents when they had cap space; they again chose poorly. Moving Kemba in a sign & trade would be their best option, as this roster needs to be overhauled, and you can only do so much with a $40M overpaid star on the roster that won't fit the timeline of the rebuild.

Sure. My bigger argument is that his payroll limits shouldn't be based on making a 3rd team all-NBA regular season list.

Bringing up team accomplishments in this is very dumb.

Maybe eventually you'll understand this is an individual accomplishment.

Team record means absolutely nothing.

Not necessarily. One of the things that we judge top players by is "Do they make their teammates better?" Or "Can they get a below average roster to the playoffs?"

If we are going to include "making teammates better/elevating other players", then we kind of have to include team accomplishments. Certainly not to the level of the individual stats. But it definitely has a place in the discussion.

It's not so much it is limited by not making one, he just cannot make the extra he'd get. They could just not offer a supermax to anyone.

I can agree with this, but not sure it helps Klay. His teammates more often make him better than the other way around.

Agree to disagree. Warriors could still compete without him, but not at the same level. They are in Win-Now mode obviously and have to pay him to continue, and only his bird-rights allow the Warriors to keep him in the fold at his market value. The Lakers would LOVE to bring him in if he hit the open market.

Yet Kemba is eligible due to this vote. Unjustifiable IMO.

The Super-Max was intended for your global superstars like Durant, Curry, and Lebron. The fact that a relatively unimportant regular season vote decides whether Kemba or Klay can earn this status is ludicrous.

I'm not sure I buy that. They all make each other better, imo.

But, I do agree that when you have as many top players as the Warriors have, there is always going to be some question and there is likely to be an odd man out.

In the case of, for example, the Heat when Lebron was there. Chris Bosh was almost always the odd man out because he was the "quietest" of their big 3.

Same with Klay and the Warriors.

Funny thing is, in the upcoming finals, Klay will likely have 1 or 2 of those games where he just goes crazy and we'll all be on here saying "How did this guy not get on an All-NBA team?" lol

He is justified on making this team...for sure as much as Klay would be. Fairly confident in saying if Klay played for a team like Charlotte he wouldn't sniff this team.

Agree.....maybe they should limit to first team selection.

Klay - who is there to hit shots - made 38% total, and 34% of his 3s. Also had the lowest offensive rating on his team among all those who played more than 6 minutes in the series. 6th in defensive rating.
There you go again. He's a lot more than Kyle Korver

Dan Patrick made a good point this morning. The NBA has become as positionless as it has ever been. So, they need to get rid of the position designations and just have the 15 best players, period.

Examples, Is Lebron a power forward? Small forward? Point forward? Point Guard?

Is Steph a point guard? What position does Harden actually play? CP3 is supposed to be the point guard, but Harden has the ball the majority of the time.

Is Gobert really one of the 15 best in the game?

Or he might be their #1 option and put up bigger numbers and make it easy

Did I say he wasn't? But according to the advanced metrics his D was nothing special either. Isn't to say I don't think he's a solid defender. Elite? Not so sure.
