I think our pen has found itself. Rodgers, Tuffey, DisMay, Romo, Littell, Stashak. If we can just get some decent starting pitching. get us through 5, maybe 6, maybe we have a shot. Certainly isn't as bleak as it was 2 months ago.

I hope someone teaches Arraez how to run correctly in the off season. If he didn't run like a duck, he might actually has some speed.

Yes I would. Just look at what you are getting today. With the other two, you at least have a shot for something decent, and they may develop. With Perez and Gibson, you know what you have, and it doesn't have an up side. I guess my return question is...you would rather keep Perez and Gibson knowing that this is all you will ever get from them? Unacceptable.

What has Kohl Stewart ever shown that would imply “could be decent”? Stewart is horrendous. Gibson and especially Perez have been disasters recently but there is some track record of success(at least in Gibson’s case)

Look at Stewarts strike out rate. It’s an abomination

Thorpe has a 4.5 era in AAA.

Stewart did have a couple of good outings. Thorpe's ERA is better than either of the other two. At some point, don't you just get tired of waiting for them to step up and deliver, only to see them unravel time and time again? At what point do you cut your loses and move on? You never know what you will get with a young kid. I remember Santana's first couple seasons. Werent nothing. Then boom. He was there. Perez and Gibson? 6 years each...it aint happening.

Correction. Thorpe's isn't as good as either, but smaller sample size. It can still change dramatically.

There's some offense for you. Multiple innings with multiple runs, with a smattering of solo homers added in. That's how it needs to be if we are going to win anything.

Thorpe has a 1.7 WHIP to go with his 6.15 era

Stewart is just straight up bad. Absolute bust.

10 Ks in 24 1/3 innings proves this isn’t a fluke either. When he throws the ball, bat meets ball.

Gibson and Perez are infinitely better than that clown show

Romero. Just a Hispanic version of Gibson. Strike out the first guy, get you thinking. Then start nibbling like a coward and get yourself into trouble. Just attack. If it aint good enough, then it aint good enough. But don't walk em.

Really? The sample size on Gibson and Perez are huge, and they suck. Those two maybe be outclassed right now, but you have no idea how they will pan out down the road with some exposure and seasoning.

No killer instinct. Giving runs away there...without even getting a hit. That wont work against a good team. But, I doubt we see the likes of Romero in the play offs anyway. We have that going for us. Take the win and move on.

Gibson had a 3.6 era last year for a full mlb season.

He’s proven he can be quality.

Kohl Stewart is AWFUL. So is Romero for that matter

Considering that Cleveland looks in control against Philly tonight, it looks like the Magic Number will stand at 3 going into Tuesday's game (both teams being off tomorrow).

4 of the next 6. We can hit 100. That will be cool. And we can do it, too.

Cleveland hanging around really bothers me. But all we can do is win 4 of the next 6 and they cant do anything else. But they make me nervous, nonetheless.

You are nit picking it. He also had 2 seasons in a row with an ERA over 5. Full seasons as you like to point out. And a career ERA of 4.5. I'm sick of waiting for him to "develop" into the pitcher he teases us that he can be. His potential has been determined. Same with Perez. He's done. Now, lets not get blinded by Odorizzi's decent year. It is hands down his best season ever. Never forget Mauer's Monster year in 2009. They threw the bank at him thinking he has finally stepped over the line into true eliteness. It was false. I think Odo is in for a big fall next year. We need to tread lightly there.

But enough with this debate. I would take young arms with potential over dead arms with a long track record of mediocrity, or worse. Besides, you picked Stewart and Thorpe as the two I needed to defend. I would give them their shot for being unknown commodities, but they arent the guys I would have picked. So this argument isnt even real.
