80's or 10's. 10's would be scary with all those shooters

LOL at the other tweets I saw when I clicked on that link. Shaq calling himself the Black Steph Curry and Tyson looking scary for a 53 year old.

What rules we using

If it's hand checking Harden and especially Curry lose some value

Maybe, but I think that's overstated. Small and not so great 3 point shooter Iverson did well even with hand checking. Mael Price and many others did well, too. And Harden and Curry are probably stronger than most people give them credit for. Also, harder to double team and more iso available under the old rules, I think, though perhaps LeBron would take up most of those iso opportunities.

Some people probably have a problem with Russell's high ranking in the CBS list, but do the Celtics winning so much cause us to underrate him? He was an incredible athlete. He was the 7th ranked high jumper in the world in 1956. He could run 400 meters in less than 50 seconds. He was a combination of superb athleticism and a great basketball mind. Dominant on defense and he did a lot of things to make that Celtics offense go. He did have a low shooting percentage for a big man, but I've read the argument that it was because he didn't just camp near the basket like other centers.

The more I studied his comp from early on in his career the less I thought of him. But I do think he'd still be a very athletic big in today's game.

His athleticism is way up there. Wilt, too. And Wilt had remarkable strength. They would be great across all eras, IMO.

I feel like to be the 4th best player ever you have to be a dominant scorer as well, he doesn't fulfill that against mainly guys that were smaller than him, other than Wilt, etc. He also played with 5-6 HOFr's throughout his career in a 9-10 team league so the rings thing is getting kinda old.

The 4th best player ever and he averaged 15 ppg on a 44 fg % lol.

I've always thought of him as a greater version of Draymond Green

Pistol Pete was great, but not deserving to be among all time greats IMO.

He just didn’t have enough longevity. Only was truly elite for a couple years in the NBA.

He could have been truly special if he had stayed off the drugs.

That's true. You'd have to include his college career to even make a case...but damn he was fun to watch.

Yes the 44 percent for a guy way bigger than most of the league is not great

Probably about like Ben Wallace if he'd have played back then. But a slightly better free throw shooter.

Much greater than Draymond. LOL. Yeah, good point that his shooting and scoring numbers aren't great, but that people still rate him very high is a testament to how dominant he was on defense and I think also a recognition that he did do other things for that Celtics offense. As a kid, I remember reading about how he was huge with the outlet pass. Sounds like he was like a QB for that very successful Celtics offense even though he wasn't the one who usually put the ball in the basket.

LOL. I'd be happy if Draymond shot 44% for the rest of his career. I hope 38.9% FG percentage this year is his rock bottom. And having him hit 30% on 3-pointers will feel fortunate.
