Rangers signed RHP Kyle Gibson to a three-year, $28 million contract.
The deal -- which includes a possible $3 million more in bonuses -- was officially announced Friday after being reported last week. Gibson struggled with consistency in 2019, although that could be blamed at least in part by the ulcerative colitis he battled. The veteran right-hander has struck out nearly a batter per inning over the last two seasons and should be a solid mid-rotation starter in Texas.

Jesse Dougherty of the Washington Post reports that the Nationals are "closing in" on re-signing Howie Kendrick.
It's a one-year, $6.25 million deal with a mutual option for 2021, per multiple reports. Kendrick hit a blistering .344/.395/.572 with 17 home runs over 370 plate appearances for the Nationals this past season and also starred for them in the postseason during their World Series run. The first, second and third base spots are currently up in the air for the Nats, so bringing the 36-year-old back makes a lot of sense.

Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that Alex Avila and the Twins have agreed to a one-year, $4.25 million contract.
Avila sported a .207/.353/.421 batting line with nine home runs over 201 plate appearances with the Diamondbacks this past season. He'll turn 33 in January and isn't a good bet to stay healthy, but Avila offers some solid protection behind 2019 breakout Mitch Garver.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that the Rays and Padres have agreed to a trade which will send Tommy Pham to San Diego.
Jeff Passan of ESPN first reported that the two sides were close to a deal. Hunter Renfroe and prospect shortstop Xavier Edwards are confirmed to head to Tampa Bay while Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports that prospect infielder/pitcher Jake Cronenworth is also headed to San Diego. Juan Toribo of MLB.com reports that another prospect could be part of the deal for the Rays. Pham is the second part of an outfield overhaul for the Padres, as they recently acquired Trent Grisham from the Brewers in the Luis Urias deal. He turns 32 in March and batted .273/.369/.450 with 21 homers and 25 steals over 145 games this past season. He's under team control for two more seasons. Renfroe blasted 33 homers with a .778 OPS in 2019, but he's coming off a brutal second half. Edwards is one of the Padres' better prospects, slashing .322/.375/.396 with 34 steals in 123 games between Class A and High-A in 2019.

Reds signed INF Mike Moustakas to a four-year, $64 million contract with a $20 million club option for 2024.
After having to settle for one-year contracts two offseasons in a row, Moose has finally landed a long-term deal. He'll make $12 million in 2020, $14 million in 2021, $16 million in 2022, $18 million in 2023, and there is a $4 million buyout on his $20 million option for 2024. The 31-year-old is expected to play second base primarily in Cincinnati and should again be a valuable fantasy commodity within the power-friendly confines of Great American Ball Park. He tallied 35 home runs and 87 RBI over 143 games with the Brewers in 2019.

Our best defensive CF:

Brewers signed OF Keon Broxton to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
The 29-year-old returns to where he spent most of his career and where he had a 20-20 season back in 2017. Broxton has been awful since then and has bounced around, but he's not a bad guy to have for depth purposes.

Nationals re-signed RHP Stephen Strasburg to a seven-year, $245 million contract.
The deal was reported earlier Monday and has now been officially announced by the team. Strasburg's new contract is easily the largest ever for a pitcher, topping David Price's seven-year, $217 million pact (although Gerrit Cole will set another record soon). Strasburg finished fifth in the National League Cy Young voting in 2019 and won World Series MVP honors, as well. The end of the contract might get ugly since he'll be in his late 30s, but Strasburg should remain among the elite hurlers in the game for a few more years.

This is interesting because Wilson was Angels 1st round pick (15th overall - 5 picks ahead of Kirby for M's) last year. The price of dealing salary.

Probably desperately clearing room for Cole or Rendon
