Supposedly there is an agreement in RPM's & Smithfield's contract that Almirola & Smithfield can not both leave RPM for the same destination. I'm wondering if we don't see:
Kenseth #10 Smithfield
Almirola #41
Ku Busch #77

I'm thinking that SHR will go back down to three teams since they were having trouble finding sponsorship for Kurt Busch's car as well.

It's getting deep between RPM & Smithfield. Petty says that he had a new agreement with Smithfield via handshake. Smithfield has issued a statement saying that Petty is a liar.

RPM Switching From Ford To Chevy, Allying With Childress

I don't know if I like the ramifications of this move but I see the reality of it. RPM is in desperate need of sponsorship bucks and I suppose RCR is stepping-up to keep things afloat. It will look strange to see the 43 on a Chevy although it hasn't been the first time The King's group has driven GM.

Supposedly the RCR/Dodge rumor is still fairly strong, so this would make sense for Petty to go ahead and get aligned with RCR technically for the switch next year.

Childress has deep ties with selling chevy's, also ECR engines are GM. Sunk a bunch of resources & money into R & D engineering. Hiring a bunch of new people to do just that. Cant see them just cutting all that loose to switch to Dodge.

I haven't seen any articles eluding to when Dodge is returning, if at all. Perhaps this is somebody's bored speculation just to stir the pot!

Nascar is changing, man. Money talks in this day and age. If Dodge throws an insane amount of money at RCR like Ford threw at SHR, RCR won't be able to walk away. RCR will never be the flagship program for Chevy like they were when Dale Sr was alive. The flagship teams get the money and the goods, and with being the potential move to Dodge, it could bring RCR back to the front of the pack.

I am stoked about this kid and RPM for this year. I have a tough time seeing the 43 on a Chevy but I suppose I'll get used to it in the future. Things are def looking exciting at this point. Whether it ends that way, time will only tell.
