Since they're trying to win a SB now before Ben retires a QB shouldn't be a round 1 or 2 consideration IMO. They're are a lot bigger needs to be filled if they want to win a SB soon and they do.
Exactly. They will remain in "superbowl or bust" mode. Cap is tighter though so they will have to be crafty this offseason if they want to make many moves in FA.

Really wish we could get Malcolm Butler in here. I'll take the release of Mike Mitchell and the signing of Tre Boston which is what they should have done last off season. QB is good for now. Draft a ILB in the first round of the draft if available.

Butler would be nice. Boston would be even nicer.

Isn't Butler a UFA? And even if he isn't, how much could NE ask for him after benching him in the SB.

I just worry about the market driving his price up. Outside of EJ Gaines & Trumaine Johnson there isn't much there. And Butler's name will top both of them as the top CB on the market. Simple supply & demand dicatates Butler may be too pricey for Pittsburgh.

Nevermind Ewa! Just glanced at the CB FA pool and there are quite a few names out there worth a look. Grimes, Amukamara, Melvin, Joseph, Fuller, Robinson, Dennard, Colvin... List goes on.

Ooo and I see our good ol' buddy Ross Cockrell is available! Steeler Nation rejoice!

O-line depth is taking shape. Finney & Feiler resigned to 1-yr contract extensions. Glad to have both back, esp Finney.

Lol... so you’re saying you’ve been reading mock threads from people that have absolutely zero idea of the Steelers current situation.

Still haven’t invested much time into prospects, but early mocks that I have liked have us taking the Evans kid from Bama. Sounds like a helluva player. Another ILB with incredible range. Definitely what they need if they are going to replace Shazier. The same mock I read had them taking FS Allen from Penn State in the 2nd round. Knocking out their 2 biggest needs in the first 2 rounds would make me very happy!

its not crazy, for a late first or second........let him train under ben, hes not gonna play 3 more years if arent going 11-5 or better and contenders. and we need a viable back up plan

Not a fan of that move at all. Jackson is an exciting player, but I have plenty of doubts about him succeeding at this level. There are more glaring issues to resolve than a backup QB.

But I have learned to expect the unexpected when it comes to the draft.

I agree but I can see the rationale

So is it consensus that ILB or CB is priority #1 or no

ILB or FS... Not big on CB in the 1st Rd, but its not outside of the realm of possibility. I just think ILB & FS are the glaring holes right now. And most of us would agree that getting a better FS would improve the CB play all around.

I don't see the rationale. With Ben signing an extension you don't draft a high round QB to sit for 3 years when they're are a lot more pressing needs. If Ben hadn't signed an extension, then I can see the rationale and only then!

Seriously check out Malik jefferson
I don't like to invest too much thought into highlight reels other than to get acquainted to a player. Game film is where I really dig in to figure out what kind of player they are. But for now... (fast-forward to 1:20ish)

At first glance...
*Great speed
*Great lateral agility & quickness.
*Great field awareness

Fits the bill :thumb:

I'm curious to see if Lamar Jackson is DeSean Watson 2.0 or RG3 2.0

On all of these early big board and mocks...it looks as if the Steelers will have a shot at a starting caliber ILB or FS.

Of course we still don't know how the Mitchell saga is going to playout yet, but I'm starting to feel like he'll be back on a cheaper contract.
