2018 College Baseball Season

Well, I missed on NC St as a host. That was the only one.
They've just never impressed me all that much.

UNC is overrated at 6th. But UNC folks are always on the selection
committee and they always take care of their Heels. Not going to
really gripe because they've always had a good relationship with
Martin and Chip Baker, our Director of Baseball Operations, and in the
past they have taken care of Florida State in the selection process.

But, if you notice UNC's draw, it is quite obvious they are taking care
of North Carolina. They'd host Stetson in the Supers, and have
Purdue as the #2 team in their regional. This is as close as you can
get to receiving a bye all the way to Omaha.

UCF and Kentucky got hosed by the selection committee.

Texas wasn't given any favors in their region. Them and FSU
are the only 2 regions that feature 3 P5 teams out of a group
of 4.

The Oregon St region was matched with the Minnesota region to ensure that a team from North of the Mason-Dixon Line gets to
Omaha.

8 teams selected from the West.
16 teams selected from North of the Mason-Dixon Line
40 teams selected from South of the Mason-Dixon line.

P5 leagues...

SEC with 10 teams
ACC with 6 teams
Big12 with 5 teams
Pac12 with 4 teams
Big10 with 4 teams

The hosts are a bit wide-ranging...maybe they learned from Softball that its the teams and not the leagues.

SEC 4 hosts (all top 8) but 6 schools will travel for the region.
ACC 4 hosts (2 top 8 & 2 other 8) 2 will travel
Pac12 2 hosts (both top 8) 2 will travel
Big12 2 hosts (other 8) 3 will travel
Big10 1 host (other 8) 3 will travel
Atlantic Sun 1 host (other 8)
American 1 host (other 8)
Sun Belt 1 host (other 8)

Yeah it was a weird year for us. The committee said finishing above .500 in conference is critical to making the postseason and I think we finished 14-16 but still won 6 out of 10 pac-12 series. If we had the SEC emblem on our uniform we would’ve made it.

That's true.

Tex AM made the tourney and they finished 13-17 in league play.

Tx AM is the only Power 5 at-large team to get a bid that had a losing record
in league play.

All Committee members lie.

make it.

Tx AM got in because of a superior rpi (15th) and their record
vs Top 100 rpi teams, which was 21-19

Zona was 14-15 vs the top 100
Mich was 6-15
Iowa was 11-15
Miami was 15-20
Illinois was 11-12
Cal was 11-14

I don't know why he just didn't say that.

The big10 teams screw themselves. They all come to Florida
or Calif or some warm weather location in Feb and March but they
only schedule mid-majors instead of good programs. They could
improve their net worth if they played better competition early.
(Course they have to win a bunch of those games.)

For 'Zona...invite those ballclubs for early season games.
