I think it would be wise to have Rico in the fold. It makes no sense to keep both McFadden and Morris on the roster. Go with 4 tight ends. If going with 3 then I guess I want Rico over hannah. Swaim is very good at everything

Probably not, especially since it looks like he may get released if no Elliott suspension and maybe even if there is. But All depends on what happens with injuries and the such. Salary is only $1.2M so not restrictive. Seems he si worth a 7th rounder IMO. I like the guy and thought he looked good on the series I saw the other night. Plus he sounds like a great guy so I hope for the best for him. But when I think about last year he looked great in the preseason and then seemed to lose it a little in the real games. Maybe he needed more use or maybe he isn't as good as I thought when we signed him but I think he can still contribute for a Football Team and spot start if need be.

Neal kind of impressed me a little saturday. I have to give a thumbs up for the face mask. Marinellis pass rush is dependent on getting push up the middle and that did not happen. Those two that started sucked.
On offense Rico impressed me. Going in I really had low expectations. Need to see more. I also liked Cooper rush. He is a baller. He needs to be #2. Hire Kellen moore as a qb coach

Was thinking about how good the teams depth is across the board when all healthy during last weeks game. This is due to good drafting, scouting and also much better cap management. Read this from Beasley:

“As a whole, this is by far the deepest team I think we’ve ever had in preseason,” Beasley said. “Young guys included, all the rookies. These guys are so much further along than groups from the past, especially at wideout. This is the best wideout group we’ve had top to bottom by far. It’s not even close. But it’s like that at a lot of positions, so we’ve got a good group here.”

Absolutely try to pick him up. I'd rather have Joe Haden than Nolan Carroll. I feel like this would add some much needed skill and experience back into our secondary. Plus, it gives insurance against the development of our young corners. If the kids are ready, cut Carroll. If they aren't, put one of them on the temp IR for a hamstring. Leverage against an injury happening at that spot.

There was no way I was trading for Haden with that contract and having to give up a pick. Now that he is released I would 1000% kick the tires on him. He wasn't very good the last 2 years. Was that indicative of how his career is going or just health related? If it was strictly health related and he is now healthy he is a top CB. But you need to be sure because he isn't going to come cheap. I'll trust the scouts on this one and am fine either way. If they give it the thumbs up and are right he could jump us to the NFL elite. He is only 28, so good chance it was just the injuries and that you can get a few more years of elite play out of him

We should know in about a month or so if this was a mistake for this year (long term we need to wait at least a year). We brought in a lot of new DBs and our scouts have been great the last few years so I will give them the benefit of the doubt and say I am totally fine with letting him go both short term and long term. Wasn't it like $9M per year? One thing I am excited about for this years team is watching the new DBs. Yeah, they are going to have growing pains, but all we need is a couple to be keepers and it will change the makeup of our entire team.

Yea just wish we could have kicked the tires on him. It is just a shame that the young guys did not get to play alot in preseason. Week one is going to be tough, but we should be ok in the long run.

Agree. Our annual hamstring problem bit us in the ass again. Are Awuzie, Lewis (when healthy) and Woods ready to contribute in real games? unfortunately we won't know for sure until we throw them out there and see what happens. I tend to think a few weeks of practice against our offense will get them ready, but will they know what to do when the opponent stacks trips on them or when a back or TE unexpectedly goes deep with 4 other receivers also in patterns, etc??? I for one can't wait to find out. As long as we get a few good plays to offset the growing pains I'll be happy. Starting to get psyched to watch some real Football

Lewis when healthy is going to be a stud for us. I have more concern with byron Jones and his inability to cause turnovers. Jones looks lost half the time. People say how great he is in coverage and he was defending the Packers TE on that sideline pass that ended our season.

I am not high on Jones so far, and he needs to do a better job himself. I know he has not been surrounded by all pros, but time for him to step up.

Agree he has a lot to improve on. But he was very good last year
