Maybe. I hope. If he gets 2000 then he broke off many long runs. I hope he gets a chance to rest some quarters this season. Showcase McFadden a little and BOOM, he ends up with 800-1000 yards, too.

I doubt we will see two 1000 yard rushers. Zeke is going to get approx. 300 carries again this season, if not more. I hope to see Dallas give McFadden a little more work on early downs so as to keep Zeke on the field for 3rd down.

Cowboys Worked Out QB Seth Russell
Nate Bouda 1 week ago Cowboys 0 Comments

The Dallas Cowboys brought in former Baylor QB Seth Russell for a workout on Monday, according to David Smoak of ESPN-Central Texas.

“The workout went really, really well,” Russell said of the workout. “Scouts said they were going to send the film to the coaches and then they would let me know in 2-4 weeks, maybe sooner. They said I looked a lot stronger and had more zip on the ball. Legs looked really good and athletic.

Russell wound up going undrafted out of Baylor over a month ago but did secure an invite to Raiders’ minicamp shortly after the draft. Unfortunately, Russell wasn’t signed to a contract following the session.

During his college career at Baylor, Russell threw for 5,461 yards while completing 56.9 percent of his passes to go along with 60 touchdowns and 18 interceptions. He had a quarterback rating of 159.4 and appeared in 31 total games.

Russell also rushed for 1,240 yards and 20 touchdowns during his four-year college career.

That doesn't bode well for Damien Wilson.

I felt they would sign someone after the Wilson incident. we shall see what happens with Damien but you have to think he will surely miss some time if he doesn't get cut

I highly doubt he gets cut, I'm betting he gets a 4 game suspension, and hes back on the field.

Most team's would have cut Wilson by now. Fringe starter/back up charged with two felonies
Most teams wouldn't. Young and penciled in to start. If he were nothing more than a back up or over the hill vet then yes hes cut, but teams dont cut bait too often on cheap talent.

Yep.

I am of the opinion that due process should have it's day. But if the accusations about Wilson are true, I would cut him as soon as that judgement is made.

Read we worked out Hillman and Denard Robinson...hmmm...could be camp depth or could be getting ready in case they need an extra back for the first few weeks.

Cowboys Aren’t Signing RBs Denard Robinson Or Ronnie Hillman At This Time
Nate Bouda 1 hour ago Cowboys 0 Comments

Sources tell Todd Archer of ESPN that the Cowboys aren’t signing either Denard Robinson or Ronnie Hillman at this time.

Both players worked out for the Cowboys earlier this week, so they’re at least on the team’s radar if Dallas feels they need to add another running back at some point.

Robinson, 26, is a former fifth-round pick by the Jaguars in the 2013 NFL Draft. He finished his four-year rookie contract and is exploring the open market for the first time in his career.

In 2016, Robinson appeared in 13 games for the Jaguars and recorded 144 yards on 41 attempts (3.5 YPC) and no touchdowns. He also finished with three receptions for 22 yards.

Hillman, 25, is a former third-round pick of the Broncos back in 2012. He played out his rookie contract before re-signing with Denver on a one-year, $2 million contract this past April. However, the Broncos cut him loose at the start of last season.

The Vikings later signed him to a contract after sustaining some injuries at running back. However, he was waived and claimed by the Chargers soon after.

In 2016, Hillman appeared in eight games for and ran for 131 yards on 41 carries (3.2 YPC) to go along with seven receptions for 93 yards receiving and no touchdowns.

Neither is worth bringing on board IMO. Just keep Morris and DMac and the kid and add a scrap heap guy onto the practice squad if Zeke is out for emergency purposes and then make the call on DMac versus Morris if he doesn't get suspended or when he comes back.

Cowboys Officially Sign La'el Collins On 2-Year Contract Extension

Glad to have him signed, but $7.7M per is a little more than he should have received. I would like to see the details. If only $4M guaranteed is accurate then I think it's pretty decent deal for the team. If he shits the bed you cut him and if he plays like I expect him to, we all likely look back and say it was a good deal for the team.

I'm leaning to there was a hand shake deal with Jerry when he signed, that he'd be taken care of.

Does Hillman play STs? I thought I remembered he was a decent STs player before he took on a bigger role in Denver.

Hillman Excited For Opportunity In Dallas

hillman_ronnie-hs.jpg

(July 27; 5:15 p.m.) – New running back Ronnie Hillman might have spent four months as a free agent, but he’s happy to catch on with the Cowboys this early in training camp.

Hillman had to learn two different offenses quickly last year. The Vikings signed him a week into the season. Then the Chargers claimed him off waivers in November.

Thursday, the Cowboys added Hillman for depth with rookie Jahad Thomas (hamstring) unable to practice. The club views him as a versatile back who’s capable of contributing on third downs in passing situations.

Hillman played four seasons with the Broncos (2012-15), starting 10 games in 2015 and rushing for a total of 863 yards and seven touchdowns that year. The Broncos and Cowboys have similar running styles, running backs coach Gary Brown said, so there’s some familiarity for Hillman.

In the short term, he’s just looking to get up to speed quickly.

“Whenever you’re signed to another team right when the season starts, you don’t have that start,” he said. “So now, getting into a camp and actually getting acclimated to a team and learning the playbook and kind of making a name for yourself is a little easier.”

I don't think he would be practice squad eligible
