Why do I keep reading that Heath might be our other starting safety. :gaah:
Heath may start early on, but he will be pushed immediately by Woods and Awuzie. Both of these rooks are going to thrive in this defense. Heath needs to hold down the fort. Heath could also get injured. The sad thing i's Heath was the only DB making plays in the playoff game

Heath made one play. The reason it is exaggerated as "plays", is because he makes so few good ones.

I find it a little funny how his play gets a little exaggerated from people analyzing his season. Same happened with Wilcox. They made some plays but got over way too late way too often. But in defense of both they were better than they were in prior years and did make more "good" plays to offset all of the bad ones. I had such high hopes for Wilcox when he got here and when he started playing a little. I was wrong on him as I thought he was going to be a very good player for us. Still think if used as an in-the-box safety he can play at this level. But his skill-set and what we asked him to do just didn't match up too well.

You are so right about JJ. In addition, they were better the years past, but still not good enough.

Even in college he ran with short choppy steps

Kind of telling the speed differential in the NFL vs college to me, he actually ran away from a couple guys in that clip, however even in his younger days as a pro, I don't remember him really getting that much separation, yet still a HOF TE. Great TE for the Boys

Is Elvis Dumervil still a FA? I know he has been banged up the last 2 years and thus hasn't been good, but I wonder what he can still do if just playing 3rd downs.

Dumervil, Freeney and Mario Williams are all FA's. Teams can now sign FA's without losing comp picks, so the 2nd wave should be kicking in. I would kick the tires on anyone that might get 6-8 sacks...

I agree.
This was suppose to be the reason they reworked Witten's deal

I agree why not give them a look. It can't hurt.

Exactly and post 6/1 when Romo savings kicks in we have money to sign someone.

I'm not sold on Taco providing a year 1 pass rush. I'm optimistic we will get more pressure than last year, but if there is a player out there that can help we should be looking at him. This team, with a good pass rush, could do post season damage. The combo of another kind of weak pass rush year and a bunch of new/rookie DBs could spell our doom again.

The Cowboys did not make any splashy free-agent additions, although keeping wide receiver Terrance Williams was a surprise. The biggest acquisition of the offseason will come June 2, when they add $14 million in cap space with Tony Romo's release becoming official. Romo will count $8.9 million against the cap next season, but that is a pittance compared to the $25.2 million he was scheduled to count. With Dak Prescott on his rookie deal through 2019, the Cowboys will have a flexibility they did not have because of Romo's prodigious cap figures. Don't expect the Cowboys to immediately shell out for free agents, though. They'll save the cap space for the future to avoid restructuring as many contracts as they have done over the past few years. -- Todd Archer

Cowboys need to look at dumerville and freeney or even talk dware out of retirement. This dline can't be counted on to be on the field. Tapper has a back that could flare up at any time. Crawford is always injured.. Lawrence is alway's injured. Irving appears to be another dumbass that can't be counted on. Draft 3 DL in next year's draft
