Whew. This team is just bad in all facets of the game right now. Unless they win 10 of their next 15, it's time to seriously look at sending our top players out. Castillo, Trumbo, Schoop, Machado, Brach, O'Day, should all be traded, among several others. Obviously no one is going to take Davis off of our hands, and I feel that ownership will view Jones as untouchable. Hardy is too much of a liability, as is Kim.
Kim would benefit from being on a team in the National League since he'd probably get a lot more at bats pinch hitting for the pitcher. In the AL, he'd be a good DH for a team that needs it.

Alvarez had been on a tear the last few weeks at Norfolk. His opt out is tomorrow, have to think he gets called up and Gentry or Kim is going to get cut.
I can see either one. Gentry is already down in Norfolk so it'd be easy to cut him without anyone noticing. At this point if they don't try to trade Kim, they might as well just try to buy Kim's contract out since he's only playing around once a week.

  • Pedro Alvarez and the Orioles have come to what Dan Connolly of BaltimoreBaseball.com describes as a “temporary resolution” to his opt-out decision. The 30-year-old slugger, who has been on an absolute tear over the past two weeks, is remaining with the team in Triple-A for now, though Connolly notes that it’s not quite clear exactly what the new arrangement entails. (Restructuring an opt-out date is fairly common, sometimes agreeing to a later opt-out date and in some instances allowing a player to leave the organization should another club offer a Major League opportunity.) Connolly also notes that Alvarez’s experiment in the outfield hasn’t gone well, and the O’s are considering him a left-handed-hitting DH at this point, which makes it even more difficult for him to make his way to the big league roster.

Jimenz still sucks in the bullpen. Can they cut him already?

He should be a everyday starter. Instead Buck rather start Rickard and Kim.
Yes, the same Kim that had an .386 OBP last year when he started playing regularly when Rickard started slumping and got hurt and Reimold just ended up sucking. Why would we want that in the lineup? :L

Who would have thought during the offseason that our only "reliable" starter would be Bundy...?

The team has 2 options going forward:
A) In the offseason, open the checkbook and throw ridiculous amounts at 2 top SP (not likely)

B) Trade what little we have and stock the farm for the future. Bundy and Mancini should be the only 2 off limits.

Gausman being Gausman again. When are they gonna realize he simply isn't an MLB starter. I've been saying it since day 1...
Sadly, that's what you get when the majority of the staff is AAAA level. :tsk:

I'd probably leave Sisco as an untouchable as well. But I'd definitely trade Manny the first chance I got because it's highly unlikely that we come close to resigning him. I'd like to start fresh with new guys like the Yankees did last year and restock the minors a little as well.

Option B, hands down. In fact, they should consider tanking the season by trading everyone not named Bundy, Mancini, or Sisco by 7/31 as well, as any additional win for the rest of 2017 is going to slow down the rebuild process (this team needs to go 25-77 for the rest of the season to pass the Phillies for dead last and thus the #1 pick).

And that number two would be Wade Miley.

Speaking of Miley... 3.27 ERA, but 4.35 WHIP, and that discrepancy is the reverse of what has been observed over his entire career (in other words, he has under-performed historically in terms of ERA relative to defense-independent estimates). This has "sell high by the trade deadline" written all over it.

Good God, this team couldn't beat a solid college team right now. Awful in all facets of the game.
