-HubbsAnd defensive tackle Breyon Gaddy talks about Tennessee being one of the top schools he's looking at closely.
-VQTennessee has long made Wade a top priority at cornerback. A five-star prospect, Wade was on campus this past fall to see the Vols take down Georgia and was thoroughly impressed by atmosphere. He’s also been impressed with Tennessee’s coaching staff going after him as hard as any other. Wade said he’s open to any school but has seen Penn State and Ohio State several times and Michigan is in the mix as is Oklahoma. It should help that Tennessee’s has Bob Shoop now as the two knew each other when Shoop was in Happy Valley.
-HubbsThe instate players will be a priority for the Vols in 2017 and a big day for the Vols on that front will be Feb. 20 when the Vols host an elite junior day that will be made up of instate prospects.
Maleik Gray, Trey Smith, Chase Hayden, Princeton Fant, Gentry Bonds, Rutger Reitmaier and Latrell Bumphus have all confirmed they plan on being in Knoxville that day and we expect others like Ty Chandler to make a serious effort to be there as well.
Reitmaier has quickly become one of Tennessee's early priorities in this class as he talked to Butch Jones, Steve Stripling and Bob Shoop on Wednesday. A number of instate players heard from the coaches during the day like Gentry Bonds.
RivalsWho is that??
-VQ“I’m definitely still interested in Tennessee,” Dotson told Volquest.com. “I’m still looking at them as one of my top schools. I feel coach (Larry) Scott is a good guy. I’ll be down there on March 5 for the junior day.”
"I just like the whole environment there,” Dotson explained. “The fans are crazy. They aren’t dumb people when it comes to football, either. They are good people, they are very polite.”
The Vols aren’t alone in being a school that’s caught his eye as Ohio State, Michigan and Michigan State are among the schools, along with Tennessee, that are sticking out at the moment.
“I have my top schools, but I’m still pretty open. I’m going to try and enjoy this while it lasts,” Dotson said. “I want to make right decision. I don’t want to make a decision and go back on it so I only want to do it once.”
-HubbsElijah Conliffe likes Tennessee a good deal at this point, too. He could make two visits in the coming months and at the very least he and his mother are planning to be on campus for the Orange and White Game in April.
-SEC Country“It would probably be Penn State and Tennessee,” the three-star defensive end from Hampton (Va.) High School told SEC Country.
important as the Virginia offer was, Tennessee carried as much weight.
“It was big,” Conliffe said.
Conliffe remembers vividly when he got the text from the Vols in January to call him. It was just after a bad track meet in which he didn’t meet his goals. Conliffe is used to performing well in the shot put. His best is more than 41 feet. He didn’t match that and was a bit sullen before he called Tennessee.
“When I called (the Vols coach) said ‘You called with bad news but I’ve got good news for you’,” Conliffe said. “That’s when my heart dropped. He said you have an offer from the University of Tennessee. It was an amazing feeling.”
