Sucks...I hope Coates sticks somewhere if not in PIT...from what I've heard, he's a nice kid.

I think this BS with Bryant and Ben is smoothed over very quickly, but we know the media will be digging.
Coates just can't stay healthy.

I'm a Vol guy...aside from UGA it's the only CFB I really care much about watching so Hunter was always on my radar...Coates not being able to stay on the field is opening the door for Hunter to maybe make this team.

Hunter, DHB & Ayers' competition got a little thinner! DHB already has a role, so it will be up to Ayers' to prove his ST worth. Hunter & DHB will battle it out for Coates' role. Even though both would be primarily ST based unless Bryant f*cks up again.

Hunter is not noted to be a ST guy really so he's going to have to really show he can be a reliable player early. The question to be answered...we know AB can do it all, but do they go with 3 slasher/slot type guys? If so Ayers will get a spot. Or, do they keep 3 deep threat guys?

IMO Ayers has to win the return man job or else there's very little chance they keep him around. Rogers & S-S should have the between-the-hashes work held down.

Good, he can get on the field and show he deserves a place still. I think he has talent and is needed, and with Bryant's mental failings he 's important insurance for that bigger role.

Geeze...forgot about S-S! AB works inside as well as outside so technically they have 3 inside already with Rogers...I agree Ayers does need to win the return job.

Heard that Bryant still hasn't been cleared by the NFL to fully participate in camp? Back in April he was reinstated on a conditional basis. Essentially he has to have some sort of checkup (piss test I'm sure) to confirm he's clean & hoping that he adhered to all the other stipulations of his conditional reinstatement.

I'm sure we'll hear something about this soon.

Haven't even put the pads on yet and 2 rookies have ankle injuries... Smith-Schuster & Sutton. JuJu was able to finish practice Friday, but missed today. Sutton's injury today hasn't been diagnosed yet.

As if Tomlin would ever reprimand the kid.

Per Mike Tomlin, Steelers WR Martavis Bryant is with the team (he hasn't been on the practice field while dealing with conditional reinstatement)

KEEP AN EYE ON...: The Steelers defensive backfield. Cam Sutton, Coty Sensabaugh and Senquez Golson are among players fighting for a key reserve spot who have a pass breakup in the first two days. The pads go on for the first time Sunday, which will help create separation.

Steelers CB Artie Burns told ESPN he spent a few hours in jail for his driving with a suspended license charge in June, but he calls it a misunderstanding because he was still in the process of switching his paperwork and insurance to Pennsylvania, where he's a full-time resident. Miami Beach police does a lot of traffic checks at night time, he said. "Wrong place, wrong time," said Burns, who's from Miami.

OVERHEARD: "Hey coach, please don't put that on the team meeting (film)," said safety Sean Davis after his diving interception attempt landed in the hands of fullback Roosevelt Nix. Coach Mike Tomlin replied, "Hey, you write the story, I just tell it."

BEST PLAY OF THE DAY (Day 2): Justin Hunter soars high in the back of the end zone for a touchdown in goal-line work, beating coverage off the snap and tapping both feet in before going out of bounds. Ben Roethlisberger targeted Hunter twice in his first three goal-line throws, and Hunter's first catch from the corner was even more impressive, but it appeared he couldn't get both feet in bounds (though some Steelers disagreed with the call). "We've got a consensus now," coach Mike Tomlin said after the second catch.

T.J. Watt said the Steelers prefer his weight in the 245-to-255-pound range. He's currently at 252. Advice from the Watt bros before his first Steelers camp? "Keep your mouth shut and be a sponge," he said.
