He did this season but how much of that was down to the Caps' offence in general underperforming?Just have never been all that impressed and he disappears like a fart in the wind in the playoffs.
He had 11 pts in 20 games for STL in their Western Final run last year and in his last 3 years in STL had 24 pts in 32 playoff games.
Now, where there's an argument to be made is that the Rangers offence is as feckless as that of the Capitals in the playoffs. Does Shattenkirk find himself unable to produce in a similar situation again? Further, given what Columbus has done this offseason and still might do, given that the Pens are still the Pens and the Caps should still be a high-calibre team, given that Philly and the Isles have a good shot at improving, and given that the Rangers don't even have a 1C at the moment and Hank is another year older, even with Shattenkirk on board would you make the Rangers a sure-thing for a playoff spot? Don't think I do.
