Justin Verlander threw 49 fastballs today. Cleveland swung and missed at only one of them.

I've noticed that's kind of been a problem for him all year. When the White Sox faced him a month ago too, they drove his pitch count up to something like 60 in just two innings because he couldn't put anyone away with two strikes. Everybody just fouls pitch after pitch off against him.

5.00 ERA and a WHIP at 1.54... No one's taking that contract now. I don't know what you do, but hope he turns it around.

He's totally gonna win the Cy Young though Dougy... don't worry. It's only July!

As I've said before about Verlander- he can go through stretches of pure meathead throwing. That doesn't work when you're in your 30's regardless of ability.
