-HubbsThat's the same feeling we have with Army All-American and Miami commitment Tyler Byrd. Byrd, who lives with Fils-aime and call each other brothers, had been courted by Tennessee several times since Fils-aime made his decision but each time he declined to visit.
That changed when Larry Scott was hired and that opened the door, even the slightest, for the Vols to make a move and they have. Byrd seemed more than comfortable with Tennessee's coaches this week during the in-home and it seems he's grown less comfortable around Miami's.
The writing seems on the wall for this one as his comments on Miami have been anything but glowing the last two weeks. As for the Vols, they are certainly trending here.
-HubbsTennessee coaches met with Jeffery Simmons Thursday night on their way back to Knoxville. Like Clark, that one feels like a long shot but the Vols haven't given up there, either. He will see Ole Miss this weekend and we continue to hear it's between Ole Miss, Alabama and Mississippi State.
If Tennessee misses out on Brown, Kongbo, Simmons and Clark, at this point we don't see them taking another defensive lineman. Instead, look for that spot to go to a skill player, likely Moss or Williams, maybe both depending on how things work out.
-HubbsThat could also be said for Latrell Williams, the wide receiver out of Florida. Williams really liked the Vols last week and while he's stayed quiet following his official visit to Knoxville, we continue to hear a good amount of Tennessee buzz around his recruitment. But, this could depend on how the numbers work out over the next few days.
