Del Potro and Nadal played their SF today.

1 set apiece.

Del Potro goes up a break at 4 all, and attempts to serve out the match.

Nadal breaks him at love, by hitting a bunch of winners.

5 all.

Nadal was down 0-40 the next game.

He made a bunch of nervous errors.

He came back to win.


In the tiebreak:



Del Potro jumped out to a 3 - 0 lead, and was up 6 - 4 with 2 service points.

He lost both.

He won the match on a Nadal service point when Nadal hit a shot wide.

Del Potro will play Murray for the Gold.

I think it will be a bad match, don't think he matches up well with Murray.

Monica Puig playing Kerber for the Gold Medal.

She just broke Kerber late in the 1st and won the set.

Puig had a 5 - 0 lead in the 3rd, but Kerber made it interesting, winning the next game and fighting off 4 gold medal points in the next game.



Puig goes on to win gold.

Yep I think if it was best of 3, Delpo would have won. If he keeps up this form, I feel bad for one of the higher seeds who is going to run into him very early at the US Open

They used to get points, but the ATP stopped that for this year's Olympics.

The past few days of this tourney was some of the best tennis at any tourney this year. Especially the end of any tourney.

* Venus and Ram were down in the 3rd set tiebreaker 0-3, then went up 6-3, then fought off one gold medal point down 9-6, to eventually lose 9 - 7. Good drama, fun to watch.

* Nadal vs. Del Potro, good match.

* Sock and Johnson winning bronze doubles.

* Del Potro vs. Murray was one of the most physical matches of the year. The first 2 sets took 2 hours, 17 mins combined alone. Fun to watch the points.

* Kerber vs. Puig was interesting too. Was rooting for Kerber.
