I wouldn't call it frustrating... I'd love it. He can help raise the bar and make the group & team better.

Cut his ass and bring in more competition

Wow... Being compared to Beachum is a really good thing to hear. Thought we'd be a year or 2 out from hearing that sort of comparison.

Sounds like the guy I was debating with could be onto something about Chick...we still need to see it games though....real games.

Preseason game 2 thoughts...

QBs... Landry was woefully awful tonight. But you could argue that 2 of the INT's were on Sammie Coates. 1 was just a bad tip. Landry looked like Landry though. Errant passes, bad accuracy, hesitant decision making, etc. Landry broke his own record for most INT's in 1 half of a preseason game. Vaughan got the entire 2nd half. While he didn't make as many mistakes, he looked very timid. At certain times he looked like he was in slow motion. His progressions need to be quicker. He showed some tangibles that earned him a spot on the 90. Hard sell at this point to think he makes the 53, even with Bruce likely headed to IR. I suspect a FA is on the horizon.

RBs... Richardson showed more flashes of brilliance but it didn't translate to much on the stat sheets. Toussaint had himself a good game. Both seem neck & neck for the RB3 spot. But if they carry 4, then its a no-brainer.

WRs/TEs... Saw some nice plays by Rogers tonight. He looks dangerous in the slot. Still not seeing much from Coates. He had a nice sideline grab, but his route running needs work. Couple of his routes resulted in INTs. He stutters at the top of his routes a lot. Hamilton had a pretty nice 1 handed grab down the sideline. Still haven't seen a catch from Ayers? Great blocking by Jesse James. Only saw him miss 1 block on the 4th INT by Landry. OLB flew right around him. Landry should have stepped up to help James out.

O-Line... Good to see Pouncey out there again. He played a full qtr and looked good. AVill still looked pretty average. Harris was the same though. Wallace suffered a hyperextension on his knee. Doubt he will miss much time, but still scary. Saw Hubbard get beat a few times.

D-Line... 1st team looked stout. Hargrave started in place of McCullers. They shut down their O-line each series. Matthews generates great pressure. More uninspiring performances by Walton & others.

LBs... Still no JJ, Dupree or Chickillo. Harrison & Moats played well in limited action. After that we saw a combo of Zumwalt & Feeney at OLB. No wonder the pass rush came to a screeching halt. Matakevich looked good amongst the 3rd/4th teamers.

DBs... No Burns again. Davis still in the slot with Gay & Cockrell on the outside. Played like that for maybe 1 qtr. After that it was Grant & Washington with Montell Garner in the slot. Also got to see Kevin White get some extensive work out there. Nothing really impressive stood out. Shamarko completely whiffs on the Barner TD run. That was god-awful.

STs... Much better kickoff/punt coverage tonight. Flying to the ball better. Another great night for Berry. He's averaging mid-50's which is stellar. Very strong leg.

I was hoping this preseason Laundry Jones would step it up and play like a viable back up QB. So far, no dice!!!

After 4 full offseasons you would expect better results... At this point, the Landry experiment should be viewed as a failure. He was being groomed to be a backup, and he cannot even be trusted to do that. He has rarely displayed any sort of the insurance that he was drafted to be. Even the Arizona game last season doesn't cover up his level of ineptitude. He has had 1 'high' mixed with nothing but rock-bottom 'lows'. And I highly doubt any of the coaches have any confidence in him.

Can somebody please tell Harrison that there is such a thing as a day of rest.

Same things were said about Ian Wild... We know how that ended. But could we finally see the end to the Shamarko experiment?

At this point, I wouldn't lose any sleep over cutting Shamarknado. :-) I'm pretty down on that guy after last year and first preseason game with his whiff.

Same here... I was done with him after last season when he couldn't win the job from an aging vet in Will Allen. I've read it so many times, but his issues are all "above the neck". He isn't cerebral enough to play the position full time. He's nothing more than a ST's guy that tackles fairly well.

Sad to say that with Ventrone's season being cut short due to injury, I highly doubt they can afford to lose Shamarko now. It's a thin group now. Sean Davis has been taking reps with the CBs, and Doran Grant with the Safeties. Clearly both positions are stretched thin.

Obviously the need is slot, but it makes me wonder if this guy would like to play for the B&G again?

Saints release veteran cornerback Lewis

Got 2.7 guaranteed from the Saints, so he might be fairly cheap.

Yea I think he would be cheap. I posted about this in the media thread. Main issue is health concerns. If he's healthy then I don't see why not. But from what I've been reading, he's been injury plagued (MCL tear, torn labrum, sports hernia) and is still battling hip issues, all of that from 1 season. Yikes. He's battered goods at the moment, but if he can pass a physical & conditioning test then I think it would be worthwhile to bring him in. Lewis thrived in the slot while he was here.

It sounds like he didn't want to press it being about 70% and the Saints had younger guys ready to go, so they cut him loose. He feels like he can be 100% be week 1....I would kick the tires on him...even if he wasn't 100% right now.

Even if he was only able to rotate in for roughly 20 snaps per game it would be a huge boost. I'd be all for it so long as he can contribute and not just add another name to the DNP list.

Would love to see a healthy Lewis back on the team. Hoping he can pass the physical and work out something in the way of a contract.

Late to the party again Face...great job!...I didn't see this game, but over the course of the last few days reading various reports...your game breakdown is on point.

Only one point for me.

McCullers reportedly got 40 snaps in this game, and maybe wasn't as effective late, but the thinking is if this guy get 20-25 snaps a game, he can be the force we've been waiting for...he was bulling the starting C into the backfield on a regular basis.
