Even with the Heat planning to counter to a higher figure, league sources said, Wade has been insistent on starting to explore the market and meet with teams once he returns from an overseas vacation, league sources said.

Fuck your league sources, because they were the exact same ones who said the Heat had lost ground with Whiteside and the Mavs were the clear front runner.

As it turns out, Whiteside wasn't ever considering leaving if he got paid.

Conley, Gasol, Parsons, Randloph...not ab ad little core.

Yeah. I think of all the signings, the Parsons one has been the best IMO given the reason you've just listed. Especially given the transition of the league, Memphis has never really had a wing with his skill set.

Sources: Sacramento Kings making a strong push to land Courtney Lee in free agency. Hearing an offer could approach $14 million per season.

They also have Richardson and McLemore at SG, so I think it'd be better to just sign Afflalo and focus the rest of the FA money on getting a PG and SF(assuming they trade Rudy Gay). The SG they got in the Suns trade should come over next year, this could be a short stop gap for him.

So, it's overpay now, or sign a bunch of 1 yr mix and match and try again next year.
