So the curse ends with Nole as I had predicted. Noley wins easily in this lame final in straights. At this point only Fed is unafraid to face Super mutant Noley while everyone else already have lost the match in their heads before it begins. Maybe one of the newer guys can step it up and bring him to earth.

 On to real tennis fans. Of course as you said she was going to have senior moments and be beaten by Kerber after she has dominated without dropping a set including shellacking Sharapova and Radwanska and she herself proclaiming before the match with Kerber that she was playing even better than last year. "Who would have thought she would be beaten by Kerber?" Yep, "real tennis fans" are always right in their predictions. Unbelievable.

Nole showing once again he's just on a different level from anybody else on tour.

He's widening the gap if anything.

How soon do you think he passes Fed in majors? I'm going early 2018

He's 28, soon to be 29, so 7 more majors isn't a given by any means.

I'll wait until he passes Rafa to try to predict when he'll get to #18.

Agreed. I remember it was only 2 years or so ago people were saying the same about Rafa. Now he is out of the top 5 and probably going to fade away in a year or 2.

I would also like to See Nole to find a way to win not only the French, but sweep the GS this year. He deserves it IMO. If he cant then I wouldnt mind seeing Fed get 1 more.

Will be interesting who takes over when Novak is out of his prime. I think majors would be more spread out rather than 1 or 2 players dominating

Indeed. Not sure I see any of the younger guys putting in the kind of work Nole has nor having the Raw natural talent of a Federer. Raonic may have his time in a few years. He seems to be working on it at least but may have already transcended his natural abilities.

Murray did pretty well on the crosscourt backhand exchanges, winning several of those points. Even the longer 20+ shot rallies.

He could only break Djokovic though only after getting broken himself. And he lost a lot of 2nd serve points.

He also got bad breaks on 2 calls when he didn't challenge serves. But overall, if he was going to win this match, he needed to win more break points than he did.

That was a poor tiebreak in the 3rd.

I want to keep seeing Djokovic and Wawrinka meet in majors, because that's the most fun right now.

I don't know if FED can beat Djokovic right now, but he can also put on a good match against him, this past one notwithstanding.

Wawrinka probably has a 2 more years of good runs left.

I wonder if Berdych can ever find a way, once Djokovic's level dips, whenever that is. Berdych might be too old by then.

Yeah, no one appears up and coming yet. But when Djokovic won his 2nd major at the AO in 2011, it didn't seem like he'd be the dominant player over the next 5 years.

I guess Del Potro isn't going to be able to come back and make SF runs, is he.

Complete and absolute B.S. Nobody can guarantee Serena's win and it is not necessarily because of old age. Hell even when she was much younger she was beaten by Justine Henin and others. In 2002 Berlin,2003 Charleston and French Open, and 2007 French Open, Wimbledon and US open. "Serena should win but as she gets older it becomes harder" and this is the earth- shattering prediction you are basking in? Puhlease.

I concur.

The only way he loses is if he beats himself, like with Serena.

Although he seems to not beat himself very often...

Hs0022, if you liked the symmetry of the chain of Nadal's victor losing the next round, all the way through the Finals with Murray losing to Djokovic, maybe you'll like this other symmetry for the SF round or later:

2010 - FED beats Murray in Finals
2011 - FED loses SF to Djokovic
2012 - FED loses SF to Nadal
2013 - FED loses SF to Murray
2014 - FED loses SF to Nadal
2016 - FED loses SF to Djokovic

We've started to go backward, so that means in 2017, he'll face Murray in the Finals and beat him.

At the consistent and sustained high level at which Fed still keeps playing and how he keeps his fitness I think he will outlast Novak. I seriously expect a dip in Noley's form because statistically he shouldn't be able to hold on to this sort of level unless he is using illegal substances. Fed has already outlasted Nadal who is five years his junior.

LB, as she grows even more older she will start losing more finals to younger and fresher players who have won nothing and have no pressure.

When athletes get older, they lose to younger players.

Astute!

Nothing of interest going on yet. They could be starting the Aussie now when it is becoming more temperate and not 100 degrees and instead having this huge Feb gap where hardly anyone pays attention to tennis. NFL is over and the other major sports are still in the middle of long seasons. Would be the perfect time for it.
