I heard of all the players except for the Suns guy. It's all about the dunks IMO. Lavine and Gordon were not big names last year they produced one of the best dunk contest in NBA history. When guys are missing more than they make, it gets annoying

Of course you have. I'd be willing to bet that most all of us who post here have heard of those guys. But we're junkies. Average/casual fans most likely haven't and like it or not, it's the money and viewership of those fans that the league is after.

Lavine and Gordon at least had recognized upside and they're an outlier anyway. Historically, the best dunk contests have involved top level players. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll see many top level players in the dunk contest anymore. They're afraid of damaging their "brands."

To fix all the missed dunks from this years contest the NBA should consider lowering the rim for next years.

The whole drone thing was stupid anyway.

One thing to jump up and take the ball out of the drone and dunk it.

That actually happened? Like I said earlier I missed all of last night events because of a birthday party. And it doesn't seem like I missed much @ all. Hoping the game today will be a good 1 though.

Here is a good read on All-Star game from 30 years ago when "supposedly" IT helped freeze out MJ. Some of the quotes are hilarious. It is hard to believe that for the first ~7 years MJ was in the NBA, he was viewed as a selfish player who didn't make those around him better.

Will Thomas straighten things out with Jordan while they are warming up for Tuesday`s game?

Thomas teamed with Jordan in East`s starting backcourt Sunday and hit the Bulls` rookie with a couple of passes. However, as good a passer as Boston`s Larry Bird is and as good as Jordan is moving without the ball, the two never connected.

``I think Isiah played it correctly,`` Jordan said. ``It`s hard to determine why Isiah didn`t give me the ball more. Maybe I didn`t the easy shot at the time. I`m not questioning that.

``I guess I`m just going to have to be more cautious around people I don`t know. I don`t want to be perceived as having an arrogant attitude.``

Thomas thinks everything will be fine between them by gametime.

``If Michael Jordan ever walked by me without saying hello, I`d probably turn around and punch him in the face,`` Thomas said with a laugh.​

Isiah Zeke Thomas is a jackass. I still remember his comment about Larry Bird when he said if Bird was black he'd just be another good player.

On one hand, I can kind of see his point.

On the other hand, I think a case can be made that the opposite was true and the fact that he's white might actually have worked against him. When he first came into the league, despite being a high draft pick, he really didn't get a lot of respect. Folks figured he was a result of playing at a small school against weak competition and he'd get exposed in the NBA. So, he has arguably had to work harder to earn every accolade than just about any of the other all time greats.
