I heard of all the players except for the Suns guy. It's all about the dunks IMO. Lavine and Gordon were not big names last year they produced one of the best dunk contest in NBA history. When guys are missing more than they make, it gets annoying
Of course you have. I'd be willing to bet that most all of us who post here have heard of those guys. But we're junkies. Average/casual fans most likely haven't and like it or not, it's the money and viewership of those fans that the league is after.
Lavine and Gordon at least had recognized upside and they're an outlier anyway. Historically, the best dunk contests have involved top level players. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll see many top level players in the dunk contest anymore. They're afraid of damaging their "brands."
