It is never a real good idea to get excited about the DSL team, but DAYUM, are they dominant. And it isnt like they are trotting out a bunch of 24 year olds. They have a roster full of 18 and 19 year olds (and they have pieces of paper to prove it!!).

Have the Giants brass been active in the Latin market, but just being REALLY quite about it?

Augusta is intriguing right now. They have some power arms down there in the Pen. I've talked about Rodolfo Martinez already, 98-100 MPH fastball.

2015 10th round pick Tyler Cyr is there as well. He's the first 2015 draftee to make a full-season team. Throws easy 95+ MPH and a good breaking ball. Should be a quick riser.

Friday minors:

Already posted about S-K and the DSL

Augusta won 8-0. Matt Gage (22) pitched 7 innings, 3 hits, one walk, 9 K's. (ERA 4.07) C Aramis Garcia 3-5 with his 10th HR. Dude seems legit. 2nd round pick in 2014. Jonah Arenado with his 7th homer.

Richmond lost 3-2 in 10. Ricky Oropesa hit his 10th HR for the Squirrel's only two runs. Joe Biagini went 7 innings, 8 hits, two ER, no walks, 3 K's. (1.91 ERA) Kyle Crick pitched one inning and one hit, and NO WALKS!?!?!?! Jose Casilla pitched 1.2 innings and took the loss, he is 2-5 with a 1.75 ERA.

San Jose wins in 12 , 3-2. Jason Forjet (25) threw 7 innings, 6 hits, one run, no walks, 7 K's, 3.09 ERA. In 33 innings, he has given up 4 walks. Arroyo 2-4 with a double. Juan Perez 2-4 with a double. Carbonell 1-5, hitting .364 now. San Jose 2-14 with RISP.

Sacto winds up losing 8-5 to Fresno. Fresno has a "kid" named Matt Duffy. Pitching was "meh". Frandsen was 2-2 with a 3-run triple, and is hitting .311. Okert 1.2 inning with 1 hit, with 2 K's. Cordier with 1 inning and 1 hit and 2 K's.

Keury Mella and Tyler Beede are going to pitch today in the Futures game. Game starts at 12:00 on MLB Network. Look for mid to high 90s sink from both of them.

Thanks!

Was wondering when the game was on, came here and BOOM :)

Just tuned in at Bot 3rd, but it sounds like Beede hasn't come in as scheduled

Got you!

I think they meant 3rd pitcher. The starter went 2 innings. Next guy came in and pitched the 3rd inning. Beede should be up in the 4th or 5th.

That 89-90 mph pitch is his sinker. New pitch he learned since being drafted by the Giants. It has really elevated him game. You can tell he throws it a lot. His knock has been his breaking ball command.

I do like this year that they are working on him just getting ground ball outs, generating more weak contact on swings. Strikeout stuff is there, just working on that command

Tylere Beede recap/grade from Bleacher Report

Top of Fourth

Tyler Beede (1 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K)

Last year's first round pick by the San Francisco Giants, Tyler Beede got away with leaving a breaking ball up to Yorman Rodriguez that was crushed foul down the left field line and surrendered a double to Gary Sanchez on another pitch up in the zone. Improving his command will be the top focus as he moves closer to the majors. He managed to escape the inning unscathed, and when he locates it his breaking ball has great movement.

Grade: B+

Exactly, they are basically forcing him to work with the sinker and the cutter this year as much as possible, leading to the low strikeout numbers. It's worked wonders for him in his growth as a pitcher, and now he has the complete package.
