Rene Fasel is almost as beloved as Gary Bettman...

Better hold onto those silver medals boys, they're likely going to be more valuable than the ruble later this year.

I almost took a picture to post in the hotel bar in puerto Vallarta. Nothing but Canadians
Families having their dinner (in the bar) with small children so they wouldn't miss the game.

I don't see anyone rioting OR drinking scotch in that picture.

I was surprised by the final score. I really thought with all the talent Canada had they would win easily. Especially since they were playing at home. Is McDavid really the next one or will he be in the middle of the pack of players in the top 20 in the league?

I'd say McJesus looked damn good considering he was shaking off five weeks of rust.

He definitely seemed to get better as the tournament went on too. If I remember right, he had 3 points in the first 3 games and then 8 in the next 4.

I think this really depends on how his physique develops. If he becomes Stamkos strong, he'll end up in the Crosby/Stamkos echelon. If he stays kind of slight he'll be more in the Kane/Duchene echelon.

I'm not saying he won't be a very good player. I'm just wondering if he's going to be as good as the hype. These were basically all star teams. The chances of him going to a good team aren't good.

Speaking of Duchene, he's turning into a puck hog. I watched a little of the Avs - Hawks game last night and that guy needs to use his teammates more.

Well, he had more points than Crosby at the same age in the same tourney. I realize points aren't the be-all end-all but you can definitely see what all the hype is about.

Was that team Crosby was on the one that many on here said was the greatest World Junior team Canada has ever had?

From a talent standpoint how good were the other countries in this years tourney? I have high hopes for Sorokin (Russia) & Soderstrom (Sweden), but they've both got a lot of development to do. Sorokin just got traded so he doesn't even know if he's going to remain in the KHL. Soderstrom was one of the youngest draft eligible players in the entire 2014 draft.

I look forward to seeing what McDavid can do at the NHL level, but the unfortunate thing for him is the team he's going to be playing for probably won't have much talent around him. Or in Edmonton's case mishandle him like they have others.

they were talking about it in the cesspool yesterday and I agreed with the sentiment ... that McDavid looked dangerous everytime he touched the puck in the latter stages of the tournament and there are few 17 year olds that ever did that at a world juniors ... i dont really remember Sidney doing it back in the day

I like him so much that Im praying he ends up ANYWHERE but Edmonton
