Once the celebrating calms down, the New England Patriots have some work to do. The following is pretty long list of free agents. The most critical would seem to be Revis, McCourty, Vareen and Gostkowski

I agree in the four you mentioned. And I personally hope they keep fellow RI born boy Devlin :suds:

Would love to keep them all but that won't happen.
Hope a couple take a discount to stay with a proven winner.
So assuming they don't break the bank these are must signs: Revis, Mcourty, Gostkowski, Vereen (but I'm afraid other teams may out bid the Pats for his talent) ugg.

Next tier: Connolly loved him chasing Irvin during the scrum. Irvin wanted no part of it.

Third level: Aiken, Ayers, Cassillas, Devlin.

Thoughts?

They have got to find a way to keep Revis and then work down the rest of the pile starting with Gostkowski.

I'd be shocked if Vareen goes. He stated publicly that this team is like his family, but who knows:noidea:

McCourty and Revis are must signs.

I'm pretty sure we all agree with you. Belichick, on the other hand, does not seem to care what we think.

I wish they would lock up Revis for a while.

Need to free up some space to sign both Revis and McCourty. Need to lower Mayo's cap number.

I hadn't heard that. That's good to know. Hopefully they can re-sign him. Funny what a SB can do to players. Some get hungry for another one and will do a team friendly deal. Others just want the $. Can't say I blame them either way.

Hopefully Revis is on the team friendly deal? That could really help with the other potential signings.

Ya, it was on one of the post-game interviews on the field. Vareen ended his answer to the last question with "I love being a part of this family" or something like that. Hey it's possible. Bruschi stayed in the Pats his entire career, and still remains loyal to the organization. Kevin Faulk another example.

Devlin has been hidden among the best. That said, we have another just like him hidden on the practice squad - McCuller...... This is one of the small money problems. I doubt there is a problem there.....

A fellow at work told me that Buffalo is courting Revis. I'm thinking and hoping he's full of shit.

I've heard that too. I guess Rex thinks he's some big attraction. :L

Woody Johnson is gonna get whacked for tampering because he publicly said that the Jets wanted Revis back.

Rex Ryan may get slapped too because he stated publicly that Revis is a target for the Bills.

Revis won't go back to the Jets. That road is closed. Ryan might just be crazy enough to offer him a 4 year $100M deal. The Bills have a really good defense and Revis would make it stellar, but at what cost? If the Bills put all of their eggs in the defensive basket, they still won't win because they don't have anything offensive.

I think the Patriots will get creative and make Revis a fair offer. Same for McCourty. Gostkowski is the guy who could break the bank. Some team will offer him 3 or 4 years at $7M per. Just to get him away from the Patriots. That will be the biggest problem the Patriots will face....teams over paying their players because they won the Super Bowl.

Is this a typo? Anyone know who the highest paid kicker is? $7M per year seems crazy. Is that really the market for great kickers? I'm sincerely asking because I had no idea.

Once upon a time Dallas made the huge mistake of signing Mike Vanderjagt to a 3-year $6 million contract. He had issues so it made the contract even dumber. If you have a good reliable kicker you need to hold on to them. A bad one can definitely cost you games. I say pay the guy.
