My thinking out loud mock.

1. Kevin Johnson...CB WF...3rd CB off the board I think PHI will take Peters ahead of PIT
2. Quinten Rollins...CB/S MIA (OH)...buying the Charles Davis hype of him playing S
3. Kikaha...OLB WAS...would love to have Maudlin a round earlier but I like this player
4. Jeff Heuerman...TE OSU..he might go earlier, Big 10 fans applaud this guy
5. Markus Golden...OLB MIZZ...need more depth here
6. Xavier Williams...DT Northern Iowa...could bump C. Thomas from the roster
7. Eric Lefeld...OT CINN...not an early starting prospect, but smart, OG, RT are both open to him
comp...Juilian Wilson...CB OU...big, ran better at his pro day...maybe he makes the team

Your thoughts?
Looks pretty solid! I have yet to find the one guy that I want desperately, sort of like LY's Mike Evans. I'm leaning on saying Peters is that guy, but not sure he will be there. I used to think I wanted an OLB first round, but the more I think about it, the less I feel like we need one. At least not desperately. But if the right guy falls to 22, then I wouldn't have a problem with it.

I'd go
1. CB (Peters/K-Johnson)
2. OLB (Harold?)
3. CB
4. S (really like that Mich St. kid)
5. OT/OG
6. TE
7. DE/DT

I haven't done any mocks yet... So not sure who I like past the 2nd round. Any of those positions I see as a need, so could be interchangeable. As long as the emphasis is mainly on the D.

My 1st stab at it last night.

1...yeah...if his team meetings went well...Peters probably comes off the board before 22...either one will work...should play some this season...at worst in slot. Maybe a true difference edge maker is there at 1.22 but I don't see that happening.

2...Harold, Maudlin, Nate Orchard...one of them will be on the board I'm guessing. what I'm not sure of is how much separation these guys have over Kikaha that might be available in the 3rd.......my thinking on Rollins...can play slot, but I think will end up being that long term S...love his ball skills for making plays.

S...will have to look into the Mich St kid.

While, I'm hopeful for that diamond in the rough edge rusher, my general thinking is they might do better shoring up the back end in this draft even though this draft is considered fairly weak at S.

That was Beckham-like!

He can play for me!
Even the catch shortly after that was ridiculous!!!! The kid has major ball skills. I'd take him in a heart beat if he is there in the 3rd or 4th.

Not to be redundant, but Colbert will most likely fix the back 4 from this draft...if these draft picks pan out and C. Allen finds his game...the DEF can make a big leap if the DL guys keep growing and a realistic chance to get another title before Ben hangs in up. Two big IFs there.

If OLB Randy Gregory from NE falls all the way to 22 because of his failed drug test for pot at the combine, do the Steelers take him?

Story: NFL draft prospect Randy Gregory tested positive for marijuana at combine - ESPN

I'll make this into a thread but I say only if he proves it won't happen again and I think it will. So, no.

Very real possibility he will drop to 22.

3rd time busted I understand...if that's true, he's probably going to get busted again and be in the 4 game pen at some point during his rookie contract....no.

I'm all for weed if it ever comes up for vote here. But laws are laws...I'm okay with a one time positive, but 3 times, you're basically saying rules/laws don't apply to you...some team may take him in the top 32, but imo the NFL would set a bad example to give him a 1st round NFL contract.

I was thinking the same thing. And his claim that he's still got pot in his system from December cause he smoked so much is a big red flag even if it is true. He doesn't seem sorry at all and that will bite him right in his wallett, as it should.

2nd round pick now...should be anyway.

Golden in round five is a long shot but I'd like the picks

Probably so...I see him going outside of the top 100, but 5th...maybe not.

Now that he has an extra 6th rd pick...I think Colbert has to dbl up on CB and OLB.

I definitely agree with this... There have been countless occasions of top 10 talents falling out of the 1st round. Sad to see these young kids throwing away big opportunities, and teams can only hope they learn from it and use it as motivation moving forward. But I'm with you... 3rd time offender is a huge red flag. Steelers wont touch him in the 1st.

Double up on CB... yes

But not sure they need another developmental OLB. They'll likely snag one in Rds 1-3, but after that is nothing better than what they already have. They currently have 7 rostered (JJ, Deebo, Moats, Nix, Hojo, Z-man, Lemon) and that's usually what they take to camp. An 8th from the draft will be a cherry on top. 3-4 starter-worthy, and 4 developmental types. Plenty for me.

Good point, they could wait another year and go back to the well again...reason I say yes or at least consider it...this draft is supposedly deep at the position...Deebo for sure won't be back in '16, Moats is a maybe at this point...do we really think Z-man is an OLB? If JH beats out JJ, does Jones even factor in '16?

I've heard positive things about Hojo...if he takes another step forward, the pantry won't look as bare.
