read this in Meltzer's comments today..

you guys think BSchenn and a 1st would get us to Marner? I would do the TB 1st and Schenn to draft Marner I think.

I would absolutely friggin trade TB's 1st and Brayden Schenn to move up and draft Mitch Marner, because that means we'd still keep our pick and it's probably going to be top 10, so essentially we'd have two top 10 picks

I'd do Schenn+our 1st for Marner easily, let alone Tampa's

If we are moving out the TB pick...then yes. Otherwise I don't make that move.
I would always listen to opportunities to turn the TB pick into a higher pick. Our pick should only be used to get into the top 3 in a deal and only then if the add on cost is not too high.

spent the last 20 minutes or so reading about Greenway. Do want.

A playmaking center/power forward winger duo would be a match made in heaven for our second line of the future

Barzal has to be my top realistic forward at this point. Would love to pick him up.

I've opened up to Crouse. Still not my top guy, but I'd accept him.

Can't go wrong with any of them. If players are close I'd lean towards the center, and Barzal is the only one I really see listed strictly at center. Marner seems to jump around, so does Rantanen.

I would do dirty things to have him on the Flyers
Cobie, I will take your word on that!:suds: We really need a pure goal scorer and preferably a LW. Schenn hasn't cut it a the 2nd Center and Couts is locked as 3C. I don't want to give up on Schenn but we need more goals from 2C and from 2 of the 3 top LWs. Raffl can be 1LW but may be better at 2 LW.

He's a comparable to Patrick Kane, so that's a good thing

Call me a conspiracy theorist, but I truly believe Bettman's administration is corrupt. I believe the lottery has been fixed more than once. I believe having a potentially generational talent at the top for the first time in several years has Bettman salivating at the thought of the marketing boost that would come from having that player emerge as the savior for a struggling big market team like Toronto or possibly even Philadelphia. Watch for it.

If the lottery was rigged I don't think a Canadian team would win it

I would be floored if Buffalo doesn't win it. Partly because I agree with you. They're going to have the best chance on paper, but they're also a hockey rich city with a garbage professional hockey team. The league could sell the crap out of McDavid in Buffalo like they did with Crosby in Pittsburgh. Toronto and Philly will bring the league revenue regardless, it's towns like Buffalo that have enormous growth potential IMO.

win/win for Bettman. He can ensure Buffalo gets the best pick, but it's less shady when they have the best odds at it.
