Some initial thoughts after looking over the official list one more time:
- Nebraska lost a lot of battles to the West Coast and to Gulf Coast.
- Lots of players choosing to stay out west and several others staying close to home at LSU.
- The Ohio State game featured the most star-studded group of visitors this year. It was a great time for Nebraska to engineer an incredible comeback and leave the recruits feeling excited and happy. Too bad Nebraska didn’t actually pick up a commit from any player who attended the game. McMullen, Rose, Thurston and Westerkamp were all committed prior to the big win. Remains to be seen if the Huskers can add Beaver, Foster or Fuller.
- The biggest whiff weekend appears to have occurred on Nebraska’s most impressive win of the season. The Huskers put on a defensive clinic on Oct. 29, but it did nothing for Bullard, Lambert, Raymond or Stanley. All four chose to go elsewhere. Needless to say, the 11 a.m.kickoff really hurt the experience for Bullard and Lambert, as both players missed out on pre-game festivities and had a draining travel weekend.
- The Huskers might get to exact a little revenge on UCLA on the field after taking a recruiting beating. The Bruins received three commitments from several Nebraska targets in heads up scenarios. Iese, Powell and Rios were all high on the Nebraska wish list, too.
- Notice the lack of Big Ten teams appearing on this list. Only three players brought to Nebraska for an official visit committed to a Big Ten school.
Don't you wonder if Fyfe was playing at Southlake Carroll if he wouldn't be getting serious attention from big time programs?
I really don't see why he's not had any attention. I look at the film and he does it all. He can run a little bit, he can throw on the run both ways, he's got touch on the deep ball.
One glaring thing I see is his arm strength is nothing spectacular.
It honestly is starting to become one of those things where the writers for every team in the country say "this team had a great year recruiting this year....."
I'd be a little more excited if we were signing a handful of big name athletes which we were going after at the start of the year.........but instead, we're right here again.......in the same position...........signing the 2 and 3-stars and pretending like they are diamonds in the rough.
