That's actually not a terrible class though...not huge names, but a bunch of B rated guys.

Not exactly a bumper crop available, is it? As much as I don't really want Olli Jokinen back (mainly because he faded so badly down the stretch), is there a better guy out there?

yeah there are great filler pieces for sure. I have not been this excited for a off season in a long time for the Canucks. so much to ponder.

thats a nothing list to me (edit: upon reflection, i guess there are some good assets there ... that will be overpaid for) ... its Suter and Parise and everybody else

movable parts that may or may not fit certain team ... the days of finding a top 6 centreman or impact dman on July 1 are dead

I agree - You can find some guys that are 3rd and 4th liners to replace departing guys and depth defensemen, but that's about it. Sigh.

What's good about it mostly being filler pieces though, is that it'll likely lead to a lot of trades. AND WHO DOESN'T LOVE THOSE?!

should be a serious warning to any canuck fans wanting to 'blow it up'.

also, if you are the Colorado Avalanche, with EIGHT players under contract for next year... not much to pick from to round out the roster. They do have a bunch of RFA's to lockup as well though.
Nashville has 12 players under contract , NJ has 13 (and only 1 RFA)

Not a lot to get excited about there. Jackets could make use of Chris Kelley or Paul Gaustad, especially if they move Brassard in a deal to get a solid goalie.

Would like to have Langkow's heart, but he's just not the guy he used to be.

The biggest Free Agent impact will be losing the 4.75m hit from Juice the Pec ripper and Martinek's 2.2. Plenty of depth D that could sign cheap.

Certainly nothing goalie-wise to get excited about.

Call me crazy, but at the right price, I wouldn't mind bringing Zenon Konopka on board. Great face-off guy and a guy who stands up for his teammates (like Brandon Prust, the Flames should have never let that guy go (and they did on two occasions).

I have always wanted Parise in a Boston uniform. Dont think it will happen though. I love the way that guy plays.

I don't see the Sabres bringing back Boyes or Hecht. So that will at least free up 7.5M in cap space for the team. I hope they spend it wisely.

I think they will keep Sulzer though. I think most people were pleasantly surprised by how well he performed in a Sabres uni, and I am curious to see if he can add on to that for next year?

Obviously Parise is priority number 1, but I'd also love for the Devils to bring back Ponikarovsky and Bernier. Their additions midseason really turned our season around.

yup he brings an added dimension that Malhotra doesnt and its the added dimension the canucks need

i do think in the end though Gillis will probably give malhotra another shot considering he didnt get to have a full offseason workout program

Konopka has been actually decent in the playoffs.

The rest of the year it was painful to watch him out there. He's slow. He takes stupid penalties. His fights are boring (think Zack Stortini).

He's a good teammate but really he's just a 13th forward, IMO.
