about $16m to sign 9 roster players.
including RFA's Del Zotto, Zuccarello and Stralman.

Soooo, about $1.77 per guy. YEAH...don't think they're adding any big names. Especially if you add to that Del Zotto making a decent chunk. And to think, they wanted to trade for Nash and his contract.

Considering Parise and Suter are both coming to Detroit, the UFA class is going to be VERRRRY thin....

That should quell the fire Holland talk...

Until the next big setback.... I'm just glad the knee-jerk-jerks who are calling for his head aren't in charge of the team.

1. You can't win it every year.

2. You can't magically bring in superstars at the trade deadline, no matter how many IOUs you print off.

3. You can't rush your prospects, especially if most of them are taken in the late second round or later.

4. If you trade for a player at the deadline, he will take the spot of another player. Is it worth moving a first round pick for a guy like Paul Gaustad so you can scratch Justin Abdelkador or Gustav Nyquist?

The maniacs just don't get it. It's just astonishing how the exact same people can go from praising a guy and calling him a cap magician, to claiming that he hasn't adapted to the cap and is stuck in the past. This is a quick turnaround league with tons of parity. You can run your team in cycles, rebuilding and sucking for a few years, putting together talent, then making a run, then entering cap hell... or you can build slow, contend every year, but probably go through stretches where you don't make it out of the second round. This team needs tweaks, changes, and a shake up, but it doesn't need a new GM.

/maybe we could put all the monkeys who want Holland fired in charge of the Blackhawks... win-win!

I thought we had more space than that. And those three are replaceable as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah...but then you're going to have to pick up some cheap help, and lemme tell ya, that doesn't always work.

HELP WANTED!!

If you're over 35, are willing to sign a 1 year deal & don't mind playing in a building that was just cleared of possibly having Asbestos the NEW YORK ISLANDERS WANT YOU!!

We're trying to reach the cap floor & could use a few warm bodies, especially on DEFENSE.

If you're interested please call 1-800-CHEAPSKATES.

It's going to be kinda hard to compete with the Red Wings on that one don't ya think?

I'm not talking about guys who actually have a ton of talent like Lidstrom.

Steve Staios was a top 4 defenseman for the Isles last year. Mike Mottau actually played in the top 6. He might not be 35, but he sucked. Brian Rolston played like crap for the Isles all year. He joins the Bruins & he finds the fountain of youth. ASSHOLE!!

Reaching the cap floor won't be a problem. Chuck gave Brock Nelson a contract that has a 2.8M cap hit. His contract alone almost guarantees he'll be on the roster. They also haven't signed 3rd round pick in 2008 Kirill Petrov yet. He's likely going to get 1st round money with a big bonus package that Chuck won't have to pay as well.

Don't be surprised if the Bruins make a go for him. Imagine Suter, Chara, Seidenberg, Boychuk, maybe Doug Hamilton, Ference, McQuaid. :whoo:
