Konopka has been actually decent in the playoffs.

The rest of the year it was painful to watch him out there. He's slow. He takes stupid penalties. His fights are boring (think Zack Stortini).

He's a good teammate but really he's just a 13th forward, IMO.

Malhotra pretty much was solely used for defensive zone start faceoffs at times this year ... thats it ... Konopka would have at least provided some "protection" for teammates ... he may not be a nuclear deterrent but he has the potential to go apeshit in defense of a teammate ... something the canucks lack
