I was always a Calvin Jones fan more than Derek Brown.....I always bitched that Jones didn't get more carries.....awww, the good old bad days of early 90's pre-absolute-fucking dominating mid 90's.......

Without going back to do the research, I believe Calvin was the only person preventing a shutout for Nebraska in the 1987 NU / OU debacle by scoring a rushing TD. Broderick Thomas and Steve Taylor opened their BIG mouths and spouted that Nebraska would beat OU in that game. Nebraska may have beaten OU, but those bastards gave OU great bulletin material for sure!

I remember after the game against FSU in the 1994 OB when Osborne said he believed losing Derek Brown and Johnny Mitchell to early NFL jumping was the difference between winning or losing to FSU. I personally believe Mitchell's leaving was the main difference. He was a GREAT TE for Nebraska.

Of course the refs didn't have any impact in that game, did they?!

That can't be right..........Calvin Jones wasn't playing until the early 90's as I recall.

I went to get his autograph in Norfolk in 1992........still got the hat and all.

Calvin and Derek were playing at the same time.........we had quite the tandem at the I-back position between those two......

I still remember both of them being interviewed a night before playing Florida State in the Orange Bowl. I was so excited I couldn't even sleep that night

Okay. Now my curiosity is aroused, I have to research this! Something is preventing me from remembering the back who scored the meaningless TD against OU that year! lol

Come to think of it, Calvin graduated in 1992, didn't he?

In 1991 a guy named Keithen McCant { I think I have his name right!} ended up being the starter. Another guy, Tom Haase who played extensively against GT, and should have started in the previous bowl game, was throwing bullets to get us back in the game, but the defense was so bad that the offense would have had to score 50 points or more for a win!

Taylor was our starter for the 1986 season and he also was thrown into the bowl game against Michigan after the '85 season, after Nebraska got behind and led Nebraska on a 77 yd drive or so late in that game to close the gap. Michigan won, 27-23.
