Damn yes, I remember that well. It seemed they let more offenses gather up yardage than just about any other D out there, yet somehow managed to put on the brakes when it became money time. Too much tension tho.

And it exhausted that defense in the superbowl if i remember correctly. It would just let the offense nickel and dime down the field until Tillman punched a fumble or they ended up hitting that field goal. It was painful to watch.

This defense now is enjoyable to watch. I actually like watching the D more than the O.

You got that right. All though, in the games we lost this year it seemed like the dunk n dunk game was a big part of it.

Ya, GB and Miami, but only for the last 7 minutes of the game.'

Green Bay was luck, and maybe the most important game of the season. That was the type of game that could've ruined the whole season before it even started, but instead they grew from it.

Miami....heat and humidity and failure to run Howard.

Patriots...poor special teams play

Giants. Rainy af and Barkely.

The most important aspect of all those losses, is how they responded to em', and that really, they all still came down to the wire.

I think the Bears are the most complete team in the playoffs right now, and I think everyone else is about to find that out.

Looks like at least one rankings system agrees...
Bears are NFL’s No. 1 team in Aikman Ratings

We lost 3 of those games due to key mistakes at key moments. The Miami game, my god... just 1 of 17 glaring turnovers, mistakes... etc... goes our way and we win.

The only game that we were actually outplayed, was funny enough - at New York. Which was only due to the disastrous performance of our backup QB.

I think we were outplayed against New England.

That's definitely fair. It's up for debate. However, I think that was an evenly played game which was dramatically changed by two SPT's TD's. We led that game by 10 points before Patterson's run back.

My nose test:
#1 85 Bears
#2 18 Bears
#3 06 Bears

This is just my take having watched them.

That '86 Defense was sick.
When I say the '85 Bear D, I'm really speaking of those years... Same with this '18 Defense, 2017 Bear D was still top 10 perhaps even top 5.

Since when does ST not count or is some sort of an outlier?
