Meh maybe know the names. But not really the players.

Sometimes it's pretty clear when voting is going more so on names. But what can you do? Fucking ESPN Does it themselves. Curry as the 4th best PG of all time LMFAO

Agreed, not that there's really anything wrong with that, we can't penalize people for not having seen or knowing players from the past. Just talking...

I think an overlooked guy in this is Cowens off the bench. I think he is a tough matchup as well

Honestly I love Cowens I would have started him and kept Davis on the bench.

I had AD start for D, thought Cowens and Curry would give me an inside out scoring punch off the bench. I really don't think the teams could be any more dead even

Cowens was a pretty damn good defender himself. I also believe Davis is more a scorer than Cowens was... I could be wrong though...

Agree with much of the what has been said in this thread...

So, who wins?

Magic Johnson
Dwyane Wade
George Gervin
Anthony Davis
Moses Malone

Steph Curry
Dave Cowens

VS

Oscar Robertson
Kobe Bryant
Connie Hawkins
Nate Thurmond
Artis Gilmore

Isiah Thomas
Pete Maravich

The other day Milk brought up scheme and I think that is the biggest thing that gets ignored... There are guys like AD Moses Ray Allen Miller Pip etc, guys that can for in many different schemes, but when you have a Kobe and Iverson guys who did not share unless necessary having a ball dominant PG like Oscar is a waste to me although Oscar can play The 2 and Kobe the 3 the point is there I think... Nash and Kobe while old didn't seem to fit because Nash got people open shots he was not a catch and shoot player... Kobe wants the ball period... Placing him on a team with Hawkins Gilmore and Thurmond is a great way to surround him though Oscar can still push with Kobe and Hawk filling... Solid 5, I honestly think picking a top 7 is too much it's what 5 minutes... Maybe a sub but shooting would be the way to go at the end for a last second 3 or something... I like this team...

Magic is my favorite player alltime... You did a great job putting together a team that utilizes his strength as well... I personally agree that Thurmond would probably hurt Davis by sheer strength, Cowens would then step in and there's no hurting him... Last second 3 you got Curry so both of you covered everything IMO...

At the end of the day I feel both teams did a great job surrounding their stars in this extra period, in the end all I have is my preference in this matchup... I gotta lean Magic in overtime, though Kobe in the clutch has provided so many years joy...

UK - 24
Nos - 23

My reasoning -

Magic > Oscar
Wade >/= Kobe
Gervin > hawkins
Davis >/= Thurmond
Moses > Gilmore

Steph > isaiah
Cowens v Pete is word because different positions but both are really good.

Cue everybody calling me crazy and saying "you need to have seen these guys play cuz it was was different back in my day *shake fists*"

But again it goes back to what you value. If it's on peak that case is there. I think we just all have varying opinions on guys though we do know them.

I don't think having seen them is the most relevant piece of information.

Wade >/= to kobe blows my mind. That is not an old vs new argument, I just don't get it. The gap between Jordan and Kobe is smaller than the gap between Kobe and Wade

None of my arguments are old vs new. Ive never brought that up.

As for Wade v Kobe Wades best years were DAMN good.

My reference for the old vs new is from the first quote.

IMO, Kobe was better than DWade, just like Magic was a little better than Oscar. That's like saying Marisa Miller is a little better than Adriana Lima. You're still good either way....

My reference for the old vs new is from the first quote.

And my reference for the original quote is people acting like you need to have seen all these guys play to judge them - which is idiotic.
