Yet you would probably jizz your pants if the Flyers announced next season that they traded for Miller.
Just look at Hasek, a great goalie who couldn't win a Cup in Buffalo, but wins the Cup the first year he's with Detroit.
Hockey is a team effort, and on most nights, the team lets Miller down.
I would take Miller before any 3 of the goalies the Flyers have, and I'm sure that would be the same for anybody.
Point 1: Probably not. As I showed before, Bobrovsky gives me just as productive goaltending for nearly $5M less. Besides, I don't think any goalie is worth more than $5M, yet alone $6M+.
Point 2: I consider Hasek the greatest goalie.
Point 3: All things equal, I probably would too. But again, he costs 5x more than any of the Flyers goalies, so all things not equal, I wouldn't.
He's marginally better than what the Flyers are putting out there, but still not the superstar everyone makes him out to be.
Do you guys want the Pens or Bolts?
To be honest I just want to win Game 1 right now.
I'll worry about the rest of that if the Sabres manage to win the series.
Just pretend youve already won, then who?
Ok, how about this?
What if this season Miller played for the Flyers, and Bob played for the Sabres.
Do you really think the Sabres are even in the PO's right now, and do you think both goalies are putting up smiliar stats on the year? I mean c'mon now.
You put a decent defense in front of Miller, and he will show you why he is an Elite goalie. That's why he was so great last season, because he had a decent defense in front of him.
You're going on names. I'm going on numbers. By reputation, yes, the Flyers have a much better defense. By stats, the defenses are equal. Reputations change and get biased. Stats don't change and aren't biased, unless it's in Pittsburgh where they hand out phantom assists like white t-shirts.
So you don't think a goalie on a team with a poor defense will have different stats than if he had a great defense in front of him?
Interesting.
All of the home teams will win tonight and all of the road teams will win tomorrow. :pray2:
I'm saying there's no difference between the Flyers' regular season defense and the Sabres' regular season defense, which means there wouldn't be much of a difference if Miller was on the Flyers and Bobrovsky was on the Sabres.
