So all this talk of the changing of the guard in reference to WR being taken early. I've decided to look back on MY LEAGUES. So please don't take this as a standard, consensus or blanket list.

A couple things. My main money league is 12 team, 3 WR, no flex (well, our three WR rule evolved into "can start two WR and one TE"... but that was rare to have a lineup with two TE)... Also, you'll notice that there is always one or two owners that draft a QB in round one. (even me one year).

So wow. I knew it was WR vacant, but didn't realize it was so drastic.... even last year.

So if you'll bare with me, take a gander....

2005
Peyton. LT. Priest. Alexander (me). McGahee. Edge. Deuce. Dillon. Westbrook. Jamal Lewis. Culpepper. McNabb
*** first WR taken was Moss at #21

2006
LT. Larry J., Alexander. Tiki. Peyton. Rudi J., SJax. Cadillac. Edge. Smitty (me). Ronnie Brown. McGahee.
*** only one taken

2007
LT. SJax. Gore. Addai. Alexander. Larry J., Westbrook. Henry. Peyton. Harrison (me). Maroney. Rudi J.
*** only one taken

2008
LT (me). Brady. AP. Westbrook. SJax. Peyton. Addai. Gore. Romo. Portis. Larry J., Barber.
*** first WR taken was Moss at #17

2009
Brady. AP (me). Turner. MJD. Forte. Brees. Peyton. LT. Moss. Fitz. Gore. Andre.
*** moving up with three taken at 9, 10 and 12.

2010
CJ2K. AP. Rice. Rodgers. Andre. Brees. MJD. Gore. Peyton. Turner (me). Mendenhall. Brady.
*** only one, but in the top five for once!

2011
AP. Foster. Brady. McFadden. Rodgers. Rice. Charles. Andre. Vick. Calvin (me). Shady. Turner.
*** only two...

2012
Foster. Shady. Rodgers (me). CJ2K. Brady. Rice. Brees. Calvin. McFadden. Murray. Julio. Andre.
*** can't break three! (also, this was the year AP dropped, got him at #22! )

2013
AP. Martin. TRich! Alf. Brees. Charles. Spiller. Shady. Rodgers. Calvin (me). Peyton. Lynch.
*** and back down to one....

2014
Charles. Shady. Peyton. Forte. AP. Lacy. Brees. Demaryius. Calvin. Lynch. Montee Ball (me). Graham.
*** I should have stuck with my WR strategy.

2015
Lacy. Bell. Dez. AP. Lynch. Charles. CJA. Luck. Antonio. Hill (me). Gronk. Murray.
*** .... and it's Dez with the highest draft slot of WR in 10 years???? (Cowboys fan)

I suspect we'll break three this year.

Well, that was uninspiring.

There has never need such a dramatic shift in position valuation from 1 season to the next. You should have 3 WRs off the board in the top 5 picks this season.

Thanks for sharing.
Don't suppose you'd want to go through your first round lists again and bold the player on the championship team?
I ask because as much as the trend is to want a top notch receiver, since that position is so deep, I suspect that the owners who minimize the RB position are the ones kicking themselves by season's end.

I'll take a peek when I get a chance... being the only one taking a WR the majority of the time, I can tell you I know I haven't won since Alexander.... but three times I've blown it in the semi's due to a terrible "gut" feeling... more like a gutless flip flop... but I digress.

2005 - Alexander :)
2006 - SJax (Owner A)
2007 - Westbrook (Owner B)
2008 - Marion Barber III (Owner C)
2009 - Gore (Owner D)
2010 - Rodgers (Owner E)
2011 - Foster (Owner A)
2012 - Brady (Owner C)
2013 - Lynch (Owner C)
2014 - Calvin (Owner D)
2015 - Murray (Owner D)

I cannot see final rosters though.

Owners A, D and E are active traders, while owners B and C are not.

What a terrible feeling having not won in ten years. Two Super bowl losses. Three semi final losses.

I'd do the same, but with our outlandish scoring, such massive bonuses for long TD's, QB's and WR's have always been a staple in our first round. .but, more often than not, the guys with Faulk, Holmes, LT, Peterson, etc, win out..those long TD's win a week, they don't win a season.

Interesting that only 1 owner who drafted a WR first won a championship in 11 seasons.

Not really.

Only 16 WRs drafted first in that entire span. An average of 1.6 per season. Heck, the team who drafted Murray first won last season. Surely he was not why they won. There are far too many variables to draw any definitive conclusions with the first round RBs and the connection to championships.

There is one conclusion to be drawn that is proven for sure with this data. The landscape has changed and WRs are valued more than ever before.

My money league is similar to bot TREFF's with bonus for distance TD's (well, kinda, he gets some crazy ass points) and TKO's where our keepers count for the first 2 rounds. Anyway, I kept Jimmy Smith and Antonio Freeman for 2 years and Randy Moss and Chad Johnson for another 2 years and went to the playoffs all 4 years and won 1 SB and lost 1..............Chad played out, I went with RB a lot more and TBH my teams have been more consistant.

For anyone interested, our slow draft has begun. For reference, I have the 8th slot, Owner D is 12, Owner C is 1 (thought I'd add them since they are nack to back, back to back champs, respectively)

Treff should like the turn!

1 - Gurley - Robinson - Luck - Hill - Reed - Bernard - Marvin J - DJax - Duke
2 - AP - Martin - Jordy - Floyd - Olsen - Maclin - Palmer - Ivory - Torrey
3 - Brown - Ingram - Lat - Cobb - J Stew - Carr - Fleener - Sanders - Powell
4 - ODB - Lacy - Marshall - Ben - KB - Woodhead - Broncos - Fitzgerald - Barnidge
5 - Johnson - Rodgers - Jeffery - Edelman - Forte - Walker - J Matt - West - Crowell
6 - Gronk - Freeman - Watkins - TYH - Gore - Crabtree - Parker - Seahawks - T Benjamin - OTC round 10
7 - Julio - Cooper - Allen - Melvin G - Brady - Blount - Lockett - Booker - Tyrod - V Green
8 - Bell - McCoy - Evans - Brees - Decker - J Brown - Jennings - DWill - Gates - T Coleman
9 - Elliott - Miller - Cooks - Moncrief - Josh G - Langford - Kelce - Michael - Diggs - Wheaton
10 Hopkins - Cam - CJA - DeMarco - Landry - Henry - Hurns - Abdullah - Snead - Cook
11 Wilson - Charles - Hyde - Baldwin - Tate - Ware - Shepard - Matt Jones - Julius - Eifert
12 Green - Dez - Rawls - DT - Mathews - Rivers - Ertz - Foster - Cardinals - Bortles

*I expect to hear it about my Bell pick
**my brother and I share this team, he a Steeler fan (we're not homers, I swear!)
***The Wilson owner is the reason I play fantasy AND even like football to begin with! I was floored at that pick.

Updated... 8 picks until me

Still five solid WR for me (hoping one falls)

Jordy, Allen, Robinson, Evans, Marshall

Floyd, Hilton, Jeffery, Cooks, Moncrief ....for the way back (although I expect five WR to go after me at the 3/4 turn)

Cobb, DT for contingency... ?

Updated.... Big Mike fell to me.

Tough opening schedule for TB and Buff. Might be 0-3

Updated....
Got my Brees (everywhere this year!)
Decker and Smokey to go with Big Mike.
Jennings to help in the first few weeks.

Most likely have to take DWill here, but really staring at DJax!

I found myself nabbing DWill and trying to get a guy like Booker that looks to have a real chance to win the starting role in 3-4 weeks in multiple money leagues - I just like the potential combo of a solid RB2 for every week between those 2 to go with any early round RBs you have, regardless of format, as long as you start 2 RBs.

Apparently so does the guy after me... took Booker. I'll update shortly.

Wishing I didn't pick Jennings....
