I am all for better police training but when a convicted felon is running to the car to reach for something at the point cop should fear for his safety. There is also adrenaline rushing in heat of moment so not a clear cut situation imo

They did forfeit.

The Magic is reportedly not accepting the forfeit though. They don’t want a cheap win in this context.

So both teams essentially offering to give up a win here.
Thats nice of Orlando but probably counter productive to the message. Its a far bigger story and message if Milwaukee gives up a game for the residents of their state

Will their phone call result in an arrest?

Maybe.

Will the arrest result in conviction? Almost definitely not.

Will the attention drawn to this issue cause change in police policies?

Again, maybe.

They are using their platform to promote change. This tact has a much better chance of leading to change than had the Bucks just played their game.
You give about as rosy an account of the possible impact of this gesture as it is possible to give, T.

If the cops in question get arrested, it'll be because of the social unrest and blood in the streets... not because the powers-that-be caved to the "pressure" put on them by this NBA "boycott".

Would agree taking a loss would be more symbolic

I still say most people who watch the NBA aren't as affected by this. If anything more people are discussing the NBA that otherwise would not give two shits.

Well it took me 1 hour to even know it happened lol.

And that was by someone texting me saying "Bucks and Magic game delayed?"

Like I said yesterday, I get that they are trying to do something different. But ultimately it isn't going to do anything

All the games are toast.

Gotta say I really question the dynamic of having Russ lead the charge on that one. That's an exceptional advantage to Houston with him getting an extra day rest.

Yeah, that'll be interesting to see. Apparently the Magic were on the floor ready to play. So either they didn't know, or they had decided to play.

See that's what I don't like...both teams decide? Sure, I get it.

Wait if this game is forfeited it becomes a 6 game series and could turn out to be a tie 3-3. So what happens in this scenario, NBA, huh? LOL

Deduct their salary for the game they are refusing to play and send me their fine money

Worthless, overpaid, spoiled rotten, primadonnas. its crap like that why the country is in uprising. People in useless professions, as useless people, making too much money. While everyone else who has to actually WORK get the leftovers. No wonder hardly anyone is watching these days

The NBA players want to be part of the message of the social unrest. This is how they are doing so.

I'll put it to good use and then spread the rest of it among people that actually NEED the money (Since most of the country is currently unemployed)

I don't disagree with what you say here in any way.

My point is that a lot of what they have done and are doing amounts to empty gestures.

So does all the other protesting...in the end it's all just words and symbols and gestures. What else can they do?

Only the police can fix it. Maybe this pressure from the millionaires on down will make the police actually try to do something this time.
